Thief: Deadly Shadows

Well just got this game on the premise that it had "atmosphere", which is something I feel so many games are lacking.


My Verdict from tonights play thus far:


The fact that gaurds will rape you if you try and fight face to face enforces the need for stealth, you have free roam of the city after your first few levels, you can pickpocket, perform silent kills with a blackjack and stealthily land someone in the back with a dagger as well as using a variety of arrows to take out torches, make noise to distract gaurds etc.


Back to the dark later munchkins

heard for that game tho, you basically need near-complete darkness to even see/play the game?

Wouldnt do for me that, altho some nerdies (C+A+D heh) were so tempted they stated they chucked a quilt over the monitor to play in the sun - not that it helped

nah its fine just alter the gamme/brightness from the ingame menu, helps a ton.



EDIT: One thing I will say, sound is very important, have good speakers or headphones and the game quality improves many times over.

Got this game a few weeks back. It is a good game with an involving storyline all the way through. Some of the levels are excellent.

I don't think I like the sound of a game that involves guards raping people if this is the case the game should be banned. Or perhaps it was just poor wording, that particuar word seems to be taken very lightly these days by some.

I'm sure that's meant as "the guards will lay some serious smack down on your poor arse" and not the other thing

Yeah its is very good, a little overwhelming tho to begin with.

Considering the medieval setting, the guards probably would rape you followed by torture sessions and nights spent in the dungeon, with the possibility of further abuse by diseased inmates.


There aren't enough games with bows and arrows. The original thief games made good use of them.... can't wait to play this, but I'll need a PC upgrade first :\

I've got the Xbox version of this and have played through a couple of levels. Although I didn't quite figure out the save game thing and have to start from the begining again though.

First level after the tutorial I twated the guy in front of me, before I realised I could "stealth it up" around the wall gantry

Oh well, he shouldn't have been on his own.

I prefer the "kill everything with a silent blow in the back of the head in the mission area" approach :-]

The basic premise is the same. Sneak around stealing stuff etc. The UI is a little better, especially the lock picking part (no more looking for square/triangle/straight keys). There's also a much needed 'hug wall' feature for those moments when you just can't get away.

I'd say that if you didn't like the first two, then you won't like this one either.

i didnt like first two but this one is great. for a start it took me like 70 minutes to do the first level - value for money! also, there is a time and place specific for every little thing you can do. in most games you can do anything anytime and it doesnt matter. but not here!
be warned on xbox though it runs like shite
