hehe. Porsches aren't my thing :) I prefer more distinctive cars. Like a 10 year old E-class :(

Still, could be worse. I could drive a Golf GTi. ;)

Holy shit that's near me, think it's the same stretch of road that I was doing about 90mph on earlier this afternoon.

Awesome.

Were you eating babies and disembowelling kittens at the same time?

Well of course. He was using the torn off baby leg to club the kitten.

You could say that to my face if you could catch me :p

Anyway 172mph? In a 911 Turbo? The guy is such a pussy they'll do 190mph+ If you're gonna do something wrong at least do it right. Anyway he can just get Nick Freeman on the case, he's got people off doing higher speeds than that.

Only on technicalities. He merely makes the police prove that the person has commited the stated offence. As long as the evidence has been correctly filed, there isn't much he can do with this one.

Oh theres always something. For instance, will the prosecution release the full videotape (as they are legally bound to do), and not just a small segment?

Would that full videotape demonstrate that the operator had first formed the opinion that the vehicle may be breaking the limit, before actually confirming his opinion with the LTI20-20 (the main reason they don't like releasing the full videotape)?

Was the device properly calibrated following the proper procedures (tuning fork, and not the side of the van)?

Was the correct road signage used?

Etc etc.

What is the correct road signage for keep your speed under 172mph? I've no time for speed cameras, but the guy was doing 102mph above the maximum speed allowable by law at the moment. Drive at that speed if you wish, but be a fucking man if you get caught.

Got to admit, I'm with Mofo on this one; there's being a bit naughty and then there's this.

As I said, people have got away with going faster. To be honest, he was doing what his car was designed to do - 175mph in a Porsche is probably safer than 90mph in a Mini, one can land you in jail th other can't. Unfortunately this time the law has got it arse about tit. Hmmmmmm

*me learns to speak German so he can do whatever speed he likes*

I get the impression that perhaps, just perhaps, other people on that road at the same time as him might not have been quite prepared for someone flying past at twice the speed they're going.

They should check their mirrors.

Oh come on Bodhi. We all know that checking your mirrors is too advanced for most people. They'd rather pull into the path of another vehicle and blame a Muslim or something.

It was a Saturday afternoon according to the local news.

The road is pretty much a giant bend, at least the bit he was speeding on is, so by the time you saw him in your mirror he'd probably be right behind you.

I'm not sure why I'm surprised that you're defending somebody for driving at 172mph...but I am.

If its the case that that speed is too fast for the road, then let them charge him with dangerous driving.

oh my how did I miss this. :p

They should sentence him to a pedal bike for 3 years. Gotta say still doing 172mph on a road is extreme regardless of the time of day. Do not give me any shit about certain criteria being met, I need only point to Richard Hammonds accident you cannot account for everything and if there is something not in your control then it can and will go wrong.

I can't work out how the Daily Mail would report this. ‘Drug scum performs public service’?
