DBs, any chance of reinstating the interim page twixt post and forum. The 'you will now be returned to your post' one?

It's no faster and the lack of page just makes you wonder whether you clicked on 'submit' or not.

Because it is :p

I won't be enabling it.

Remember, these little things add lots of sql queries to the system, and I dont want to increase the count unless it is for useful stuff.

That falls under "toys".

What we really could do with is a seperate Statistics page, with info on newest/oldest members, most popular threads (in posts AND views), top 5 posters, etc.

Right,

I can find no reason why it should be slow for you. Next time you post a message and its going slow please ping

ftp.barrysworld.com

and then do a tracert -d to ftp.barrysworld.com

There is fuckall wrong with the server/mysql system. Its snappy as fuck for me and many others yet I am not on modem.

All PHP output is compressed at the server and decompressed at your client if it supports it so you should be getting less traffic on your link. All PHP scripts are compiled once by the intepreter and then stored in a memory cache so subsequent hits to the same page are executed with huge speed increases.

Really at a loss for this one. Does it happen at anytime of the day?

Actually I have one of those but its not ready yet :p

Also, the difference is the actual load they do put on the server, and those statistics dont do as much damage as enabling the user/member list stuff.

BTW I've had this problem where sending something to be posted results in a 10 second pause then it posts.....I'll do what you just said DB.

Yes I know,

that was due to the device which had some mysql databases on it, running out of space, and the queries started to backup and use all available mysql connection slots till it ran out of slots.

I have made space available and they are fine now.

EDITED:

This post took 2 secs for me to place it.

Hmmm,

I just got the pause BUT only after editing a post already there.

/me wonders if some indexes are fubared or missing from the forums.

/me turns on logging of slow-queries/without indexes option in mysql

EDITED:

original post took less than 2 secs to place, wonder how long the edit takes.....

Gah, 20 secs for the edit to work, but posts are instant for me, does this concur with anyone else?
