toa is gonna bring the chaos imo.

a lot of chaos.

nevermind the crazy items that can increase your cast speed by 13% or 19% (along with a whole bunch more other stats), putting RAs like mo-art in the bin.. but the master levels seem to be zerg orientated.. aura type effects, the more people you have with more auras around you, and popping them all over the place, the more chance you'll have to survive.

initial impression :eek:

tho it depends on recast timers and whatever.. havent seen those (if any) yet.

some of the stuff seems fairly cool too, such as the pull/push spells, and various cloud effects, but it will be absolute hell, no doubt, to balance.

tho i've no doubt once these abilties finally settle in, we'll see some really crazy shit happening from people using these in a highly skilled manner.

overall tho i think it will push rvr heavily from the current emain-farm, zerg, fg combat, to more epic orientated combat, such as keep or relic attacks.

time will tell.

u should not have to pay for adds ons to gain advantage though, its bad enough with the si items. anyone1 playing this game just for fun and doing rvr to test themselves are gonna feel pretty useless.. which is summit this game doesnt need.

i for one just want new mobs to fight, and new, balanced drops, not overpowered rewards for getting ToA in first place.. it aint on.

theres talk of a cover disc yeah? embrace new players, dont exclude them. this will spilt peeps even more.

the master level stuff is a load of crap too... i aint gonna buy my way to being so-called better than the next person. nor should anyone else have to.

give new mobs, new dungeons and new places to explore.. that's all.

and fix the fucking sound! :p

Many of the abilities are designed to help allies within range on the frontier – so you'll still get the benefits, even if you haven't picked up the expansion yourself.

This could be insane, depending on what they mean with "within range on the frontier".
/imagines somebody popping some ability at amg, emain and the infil zerg at mmg all get their abbilities increase :eek:

I anticipate the expansion very much.
The game is getting a tad boring (at least for me) and the new MAs sound interesting.

I am most interested on the impact of those MAs and how they work. Maybe we see some mid casters again in groups cause otherwise they would lack essential MAs. OK, just dreaming...

Well to many - it seems they infact have.

Many already complain about SC and RAs, and how they un-even the playing field.

If i recall only a handfull of people actually thought SC and RA's would rodger up balance. Everyone else was crying out how great it would be, and how it was finally worth being an LGM armourcrafter.

Sure, people are complaining now because its suddenly hit them that you can cap all your stats V. easily, and as such it nullifies the advantage when everyone has an SC suit. But i certainly didn't hear much complaining when the patch notes came out announcing SC. If anything people were demanding GoA speed up their patching :)


Like Loxley said, try waiting to see what these MA's actually do, are, and how they effect actual RvR before you start screaming about how unfair it is. Besides, like it was said. Mythic will be using the time when ToA goes 'Live' as the beta test for the MA's (testing them during actual RvR). So chances are they'l have been tweeked a little before they hit europe anyway.

omfg @ how conservative some of the community are - why do peeps always want to stick with the devil they know rather than embrace change - peeps are bored of aspects of rvr and most pve sux coz we all done it 100 times already.

Well - one of the reasons many people seems bored (from reading around the foras) is that unless you run the "perfect" set up - SC capped armour, the right RAs and the rigth classes - you will get run over by the people that do.

You think introducing yet another similar feature will improve this?

I fail to see it currently, but when the add on gets over here, will decide then.

And by the way - there is no need to jump out headstrong in any change. Change is not neasecarily a good thing, if done the wrong way (or over done). Sometimes it is better to fix what is broken, instead of add more that (likely) will be broken.

behatch, you do know that this expansion is 4 months away? So 4 months more of the same old RvR and PvE after that maybe a change in how the game works is actually nice? Even if it slightly increases inbalances and as Archeon said the major stuff will be patched already in 1.67 which is probably the patch we will go to immediatly (guessing on getting .64+.65 as one and .66+.67 as one patch).

And Xandax finding the perfect balance is impossible, there will always be something unbalanced certainly in a game this big. Now this isnt beta or designstage of the game anymore, so mythic besides needing to fix stuff also needs to keep people entertained and interested. After 4 more months of the same kind of RvR, it might be nice to see a change in that and possibly change the way how RvR is done.
As said before this will most likely effect RvR to become bigger battles, which might actually mean that having one gimp in your group will do less to who wins the fight than it does now.

Determination should be nerfed, mezzing some tank for 5s with the best spell is silly. But that is a balance issue, has nothing to do with new possibilities being added into the game. Mythic is a company that has to sell things in order to stay afloat, it only makes sense they let you pay for the best stuff (I feel they should have given the rvr free add first though, instead of doing another pay for release).

I'd agree with that. But the problem is that there's very little agreement in the DAoC community about what's broken, beyond a very few things (savage damage, Dragonfang for example - shut up Jaond :D ).

Coming at it from one perspective, the emphasis on perfect 1fg line ups means the game is broken - it means that the majority of classes have little to no useful role in RvR.

From the hardcore 1fg'ers perspective, on the other hand, what's broken is zerging, and the fact that it's hard to find a 1fg vs 1fg fight.

Mythic has consistently said - all the way through from the original game ads - that the game is about large group combat. With ToA and the other upcoming patches, it's clearly trying to assert its vision of what the game's about, by adding more abilities that will encourage large-group RvR, including (especially) keep takes.

Whether you think that's right or wrong depends entirely on whether you enjoy 1fg vs 1fg (personally, I prefer either large-scale stuff or soloing, but that's just my preference). What I hope Mythic will do is make it so that there's more variety in RvR, removing the concentration on 1fg without making it impossible for 1fg'ers to get good, rewarding fights. If they can do that, I think everyone will be happy.

beta tested savages and failed completely. and hoping to see the savagenerf on euroservers this year is hoping to much imo. and we don't know if it's even enough. but if that mythic guy, Mackay, says they should been hit harder, it's prolly true.

Problem is - the more factors you add into the game, the harder it is to balance it out.


And yes - I understand all the reasons behind releasing an add on like ToA, and I'm not sure I like it yet or not - because it is impossible to figure that out until you hear some "Live" points of views and information (although major source of info will be VN *sigh*`).

I think toa will make the game better for hybrids ie with Mls we can contribute something to our group and maybe the fgs wont be as fotm anymore :)

At least thats what im hoping it will bring.

Atleast when they implemented the new SI classes, it didn't have a great impact on rvr, so i definately have to say:" Thumbs up!"
