interesting option, unproven but with a lot to prove imo. And, from what I've seen, talented.

Huge risk imo.

England are desperate, Rooney should not play, Owen is not match fit and will not be 100% (pointless for a form striker like him), Crouch is not an international quality striker and the decent English strikers won't be selected as they don't play for the so-called "top" clubs.

Walcott has pace and raw talent no question, but is not match sharp and rumoured to be less than match fit. How the selection of an unproven young player with almost no top flight match experience can be justified, god only knows.

An international team cannot rely on their midfield to score all the goals even if they have arguably the best attacking midfield in the world. Rumour is they might play Lampard up front, which is another huge risk.

They were saying the same of Owen a few years back. The boy is seriously quick and England need a pace man up front. Risk, certainly, but it's a calculated risk based Sven's personal veiw of the boys abilities. Have seen him play twice and I think he can cause a lot of teams problems.
