Fuck me i would love to have this guys job i mean $300million in eight years for a EPIC FAILURE. Awesome.

BBC NEWS | Americas | Lehman Bros head took home $300m

Even more unbelievable still......

The Independent said:
Up to 10,000 staff at the New York office of the bankrupt investment bank Lehman Brothers will share a bonus pool set aside for them that is worth $2.5bn (£1.4bn), Barclays Bank, which is buying the business, confirmed last night

Or

ALB Legal News said:
The embattled company paid out $US5.7 billion in bonuses in 2007 alone, with senior executives including CEO Dick Fund receiving the biggest payments.

Glad to hear that they might be taken to court for what is quite clearly theft on such a huge scale it is not even funny

ALB Legal News said:
In the wake the dramatic collapse of US investment Bank Lehman Brothers, it appears that creditors of the company may bring a class action suit seeking to recover some of the extortionate bonus payments made to senior executives.

According to Slater and Gordon Lawyer Ben Phi: “There may be grounds to allege that the bonuses paid to senior Lehman staff constituted a fraudulent conveyance – a civil cause of action that is available to creditors under US law

Pleeeeenty of this going around, just look at government officials, ministers etc who reap a massive amount of dough, not to mention "pardons for loans" in the millions; while normal nurses, firefighters, police etc, who actually serve as more then glorified spokespeople, struggle to make ends meet.

F*ck ""equal pay for sexes", i want equal pay for equal amount of usefulnes of work.

well, start as a general then, military throwover ftw!

but i guess in Finland you're too busy being at war with England to control the country with the army.

They should arrest all of them and lock em up for a looOong time.

This whole episode that we are currently seeing has been brought about by a bunch of thieving c**ts.

The entire concept of the US government giving these same thieving gypo's (companies and employees of the companies) a $800billion check is just plain wrong.

It is just going to be used to line the pockets of the very people that have engineered this whole thing.

I have read many articles, from when they had Alan Greenspan as the head of the FED, all saying that this was inevitable and that there would be hell to pay, well here it is.

As i said on Gorbo's thread of a few days ago, this is just the beginning, much much worse is yet to come.

Wont really matter to be honest. Where are all these people going to put their millions? certainly not in the banks, they'll just lose it anyway

What gorbo's thread? :p I havent made a thread about the economy in weeks.

But you're right when you say that this is just the beginning. Not just the beginning of a loooong and painfull depression, but also the beginning of a new era.

Im sure you have noticed that this "buble" in oil prices still hasnt burst even though demand is down considerably and everyone realise that things are going to become worse.

on topic: Personally i think its the systems fault. We really have to ask ourselves is unregulated capitalism really the way to go. Maybe we would have been better off with the soviets winning the cold war afterall. :kissit:

Even when people agree, still nitpicking?

More to come? Sure, quite likely.

New era, doubtful. Well, any more then every year is a new "era".

I like Gordon Browns propsals for the finacial sector.

They will loan the banks money, only if no huge bonuses are paid out and banks HAVE to start lending money again.

nitpicking as much as him.
but you're just doing it to nitpick. because it doesnt seem you have grounds for your claims.
Last time the world saw such a economic collapse a guy came to power in a country and started a world war... If thats not a new era im not sure what is.

(deecided on a more postive answer): It was a joke at Gorb, let it go.

The fact is, Gorb is again doing some(not alone though) doomsday hollaring and it's getting to a point where i miss Joor. Joor had some exiting things there, this is just boring "we shall has 3 pound bread soonz! Oh no!!" bullsh*t.

A new "era"...pfft...

The last 50 years gave us unprecedented wealth and economic growth. The next 50 years will give us unprecedented poverty and economic contraction. I'd say that qualifies for a new era but i guess thats a matter of opinion so this debate is pointless. (as always :p)

You of all people should take this seriously because as ive said before you're line of work will most likely shrink quite significantly in the next few years so you should prepare. Laugh if you want, you wont soon.

Please stop using "it's pointless to debate" as a reason, as it just makes you sound like a pigheaded moron. You've got more brains then that.

I will keep "laughing"(which i haven't done), as my job means nothing to me. If even the end of times came to pass, i'd be ready and would adapt. The ones screaming the loudest and doomsayers, those won't. Whatever happens, nuclear war even(which would in a very grim way be "cool" to see), i'll live(if let be) and even if i'm in a four by four room with a pillow of straw and a pen&paper to keep me company, i can cope it.

During the cold war, people believed that the end is nigh, that the economy won't bounce back etc etc...what happened? We're still here.

Nothing will bring forth this doomsday theory of yours, so it's even pointless to scare those who choose to listen.

Why would i take it "seriously" when i don't hold money, high paying jobs, etc luxury items or such in high places as you so blatantly do.

And on the very likely risk that you'll now ignore my previous post completely;

Even if i believed you and started to run around waving my arms screaming "the economy is falling!", what could i do?

What wisdom beyond us "mere mortals", would you give us? Start stocking up water? Start pilfering from the coffeefunds at work?

What?

The fact is, there's f*ck all one could do even IF this were to come as a "sign for the apocalypse", so what's the point of screming it aloud from rooftops?

It is pointless to debate whether what we're seeing is a new era or not because we dont agree on what an era means and i doubt there is any official version.

You still dont get it. This isnt comparable to the cold war or the world wars because after those we still had natural resources to rebuild. This crisis is because we are running out of the things that would allow us to rebuild.

Whether you want to prepare or not i dont care. I got enough problems of my own as it is. Im simply warning. Maybe you'll apreacite it when you finally get out of your ass and do something about and not hope (like everyone else) that it'll soon become normal again.

As for what exactly to do: That depends on how severe you think this'll be. There are lots of people who are actually learning how to farm and so on so that they can be fully self sustainable when there is no more food in the grocery stores. Im not saying that will (and i really am not that d00m) happen but i think you should educate yourself and then decide for yourself. Although, if everything gets expensive then being as self sustainable as possible wont hurt i guess. So these guys win anyway.

Hah, so you're saying "Well i don't know, i'm just warning if it might happen, do what you want".

And even sayign "it's as severe as you'll think", instead of "it's gonna be THIS serious" as you've said this far.

Typical. Doomsay and when asked "so what should we do?", you have no f*cking clue. So your whole rant is pointless, especially since it's just a speculation based on loose facts and hearsay.

Why should i appreciate a doomsayer? Why should i prepare for a "fantasy" of yours? I shouldn't.

Yeah, you've got problems, what are YOU doing then? How are YOU preparing for this new era?

Or can you answer anything?

I get it alright, there's sh*t going around the world, so what? There's always sh*t going around the world and to this day, there hasn't been a great catastrophe that has destroyed the human way of life, and i doubt some wall street bull will do so.

So if you can't even answer what one should do if they believe your bullcr*p, then for the love of all that is normal, shut the f*ck up about it.

EDIT: By the by, i don't hope for things to go to normal as they are normal.

I guess i should just say, as n olivebranch or whatnot; "You go and worry about it, but keep it to yourself as many of us aren't that scared."

Actually better would be "you believe what you believe, i believe what i believe, and in all likelyhood, both of us will end up where we end up."
