Competition The YES thread

OK,

it seems that we are mostly in the majority in thinking that saying "yes" to things we normally would not agree to would bring about interesting results. What I am proposing is not a thread where we all post talk about opportunities that might arise but where we actually post the results of what did happen.

Although, saying this it is sods law that just when you decide to partake in an experiment like this no opportunities present themselves; example, I am a reclusive bastard and after constant nagging from B2 to try and socialise more I went out on a limb and invited 3 different people at 3 different times to meet up for coffee...I was blown out by one and 2 didn't respond (honestly guys life is soo hard being this popular!).

So in order to keep this current I request that a mod sticky this thread and that when/if an opportunity arises you take it and then post it in this thread and we can see if sayig yes really does give you new exciting or interesting experiences or if it just brings about more work and things that you wish you hand't started in the first place.

So if you are willing to take this challenge up say YES and keep an eye on this thread and post when you get an offer and tell us what happened.

Tbh as a teacher, if you have the time and dedication (and I guess the patience) to take on a lot of responsibility and work, you can get quite a nice pay package.

One of my teachers is head of 3 departments and does a couple of society/club like things a year. I've heard you get an extra 3-5 grand for being a 'head' of something in some schools

Depends on school and department sizes. 'Normal' heads of department in a school of say 1200-1400 kids which aren't major subjects but are still core like business, geog, history, etc. probably get 4-6k, English, Maths, Science HoDs will get 10K+ as there's more pupils involved. This on top of normal pay ofc. Smaller schools get less. I do alright for myself.

Mostly with clubs and societies it's teacher good will believe it or not. No remuneration.

To day I said Yes to a self budget, Good side is after this climate changes I should be able to keep it up and see better returns on my hard earned cash.

Downside, I have just finished a food inventory from my kitchen and am Amazed at how much food I have bought previously that just sits there doing nothing, I have also planned all my meals for the coming week, go me!!

I will post how much I have saved after giving it a whirl!

Last night, office party, said yes to every drink, got hammered, don't know what happened, woke up with a bus ticket for 12:15am and remember taking a cab home which means i got off at wrong stop.
