'Good' is a subjective adjective and not really something you can argue over. Suffice it to say that I find watching an episode of 24 just as enjoyable as an episode of The Wire.

Armageddon is a pretty shit film, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching it.

Indeed. Saying The Wire is inherently better written than something like 24 is a silly thing to say. As nath mentions, they are totally different things. I believe 24 is well written television, whereas The Wire is well written drama. They are different things, have different merits and should be judged differently.

And I was taking no moral high ground, I was simply pointing out nath's amusing (this is a good thing) petulance. I still believe that people should not be berated for the products they consume though (berating someone for being a total nobhead is something entirely different to berating them on things they like/don't like).

spoilers - up to end of season 4.

Wow, I think season 1 and 4 have been the best so far. The character building in season 1 was the best yet, and the only thing that came close to it was the kids in season 4.

I was sad when Stringer died, it was coming, but he was a good character. I love the way that every action has a repercussion, even if it is not apparent until the next season. Glad that Omar has not been on the casualty list yet, he is a gem of a character.

Starting season 5 now, this may be the first tv series I actually sit through and watch again.

Yes they don't seem to mind killing off popular characters...bu I suppose in a drug dealer world your life is going to be pretty short lived...

Yeah Stringer is a good actor. I think he was born in the UK...

Like his accent when he was undercover at the brothel in S2? That was brilliant :)

That was the idea surely? He was doing a "fake" english accent, I thought he did quite well.

series 5 episode 8

Omar! :(

What a way to go, no firefight, didn't get near Marlow, just a kid. Loved the way they played it out.

The same kid that Bunk saw playacting in the street after witnessing Omar's shootout where his female partner-in-crime died

Yeah the continuity between series is fantastic, Re-occurring characters, growing and developing.

Yeah I remember..
Omar going down to the docks in S3 or S4 do get rid of a gun if I remember right, and there was still a campaign flyer on the wall for Frank Sobotka from S2.
It's the little things like that that just make you stop and think "wow". :)

What about Sobotka's nephew shouting at Mayor Carcetti about killing the port with the westside development in season 5?
