How on Earth can they show 60 episodes in one week? And who the fuck has that little life that they can take a week out of real life and just watch TV? That's 45 hours in one week? Surely that's not viable, or even remotely intelligent.

I didn't read it as the whole show in one week, rather that they'd be showing it once a day. It's a bit ambiguously written though.

Yes, it says 'the week' rather than 'a week'.

You couldn't possibly screen all those episodes in that time frame - it would be outside the watershed.

I'll give it another try if it's on at a suitable time/day.

Just finished season 2.

I didn't enjoy it very much at all, loved when Omar was in it and Stringer and Avon but I just couldn't take to any of the dock men. Don't know if it was because Jimmy and Bunk weren't together as much but I just didn't like it as much.

Will start Season 3 tonight.

For excellent commentry on The Wire check out the Adam & Joe show from six music on Saturday (about half an hour in). Basically sums up every conversational point from fans of the program.

The beeb cant censor the "fuck" scene when bunk and Jimmy figure out who shot that bird and where the slug ended up. If you beeped the swear words it'd be a silent movie :D

That scene made me piss laughing, Bunk is rapidly becoming my favourite. Lester is good but its annoying me how much it seems like hes trying to be Morgan Freeman.

Well for those that haven't seen it it starts next Monday (the 30th) at 11:20pm on BBC2... I think that's too late for mainstream viewing but hopefully it won't be censored :)

beeb always censors, sadly. even if its 23:20.

Utter nonsense.

With some comedy stuff it's censored, as it's deemed superfluous and repeats often go out pre-watershed.

Same with films, it's easier to have one version than 2 or 3 depending on time and channel.

For serious drama, and most films, they leave it unedited, particularly if it's contextual. IIRC they aired American Beauty one time and didn't censor the c word.

I saw the US version first and I remember how shocked I was watching it on the BBC later. They basically condensed the first 3 episodes into 2.

P.S HBO doing Song of Ice and Fire series :worthy:

It is a shame that The Wire is not available on blu-ray just right now. The DVD boxset is like 130 quid, well worth it in my opinion. When I got into the series I was up till fuck knows when watching it.

Truly a fucking worthy series of some award :p

The minimum it would have been shot on would be 16mm, easily suitable for hidef.

Blu-ray is just my choice of medium I want to purchase on. Regardless of whether it is out on DVD (for 116 quid) or Blu-Ray. I will pay the price to have it on the format of my choice.

Basically I do not buy DVD anymore.
