The very vague forum rules.

Many times I've been pm'd or replied to by mods and other people have been banned for making "personal comments" to people. Having recieved a PM about this from a mod I clicked the appropriately named "Rules" tab on the FH navi menu and the only corresponding information I found was this:

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

The only thing that vaguely relates to making "personal comments" which was referring to an insult I made is being "hateful".

Is there some part of the rules of which I am missing or is the banning of people for their actions/opinions determined by the set nazi% variable of the moderator browsing the forum?

Hi majik

I believe the forum rules are written in broad, 'purposive' language so that the moderators and wider community can respond to any situations in the context in which they arise. If an absolute list was created and literally interpreted then there would always be grey areas which would go unchecked.

I'm not familiar with the specifics of your case but most (indeed all) moderators I know of on FreddysHouse are reasonable people selected because of their moderacy. Every reported post made by users is logged for all moderators to see. Actions taken are often detailed by the moderators in question in a special forum and comments are invited by other moderators and admins.

There are no 'nazi' moderators that I am aware of, and there are various safeguards in place to prevent any abuse of power. Sorry if you feel you've been hard done by, but by and large FreddysHouse has a growing community which remains sustained by its rules, moderators and members as a whole.

Kind Regards

Here is an example of a reason why I was banned:

A moderator of which I will not name, said in a thread that anyone doing or implying a certain point from this point on in the thread will get banned. Some person implied the point he was talking about and then I made a comment that the moderator had told him to stop doing it and he got banned. I was banned 5 minutes later even though I didn't do any of the mentioned by that moderator.

I had no means as of appealing against this because I was pure and simply banned from the forum and I was told if I made a new username to appeal it, my ban would only be increased in duration. Having done nothing wrong and being banned for it was enough, but not being able to appeal it was (and excuse my bad language) taking the piss. Is there a protocol to appeal any ban given by a moderator, as they can make misjudgements as they are only human?

So why is there a rules tab on the browser, without clearly showing the thread made about CoC?

Because the CoC is a sitewide announcement at the top of all toplevel forums. Can you not see it?

I know I can.....

Actually I made a template change many months ago and it seems to have reverted. No matter, I shall fix, but my answer still stands, the CoC is everywhere.

Don't use the Rules button as an excuse. Ignorance has no place in this matter.

I couldn't but I can now, thanks. It was so obvious that I couldn't see it so to speak;) I'd also like to know if there is a way to appeal a ban made against you if you could oblige.

I'm not using it as an excuse, this thread is simply for my own knowledge for incase this occurs again, but its nice to see the attitude people have towards you when you mention that you've been banned from the forum.

If you are referring to my comments then you are misguided. I would answer in the same style regardless of whether you are banned or not :)

Note that this is a loose guide, as the people who run this place in our spare time we reserve the right to be as relaxed or strict as we happen to feel like on the day in question.

I can't believe that people still don't know that what the mods say, goes.

No question, no complaint, call it nazi if you want, but basicly they pwn the place.

I know i've got a healthy dose of "modfear" in me, and the younglings of the forum should be introduced to "The Ban Stick" early on so they don't sway from the rightful ways.

Its simple, a mod can sort something out if they feel its warranted, except deebs, who will ban me for saying he's a **** like this :m00:. Other than that if ure not a prat to people you wont really come in to problems. Dont try and abide by a technicality of a particular rule or few, just dont be a prat, and a mod isnt going to be even interested in you.
Oh and fozzyson likes manly women.
