As i am after downloading 1.82 Toa client on my pc just back from the shop @ 2.3 kbps and 2 hours later my dialup connection goes haywire i find myself asking the following .

1. Is it really worth it ?
2. What part of the Eu constitution said that 1 private company Eircom ... can own 95% of the land lines in 1 country ... oh yey for choice
3. Why do i continue to pay 39.99e a month for 150 ... suppossedly Anytime hours on dial-up when it works only when it suits the network !
4. How can a country that claims to be a hub for the Computer based software industry have a lower broadband dsl coverage % than ethiopia and most eastern european countries ? ... Gogo Celtic Tiger ...
5. How is it that last year when the governing body aka watchdog in this sector backed out of a court injuction in which they planned to Force the issue of dsl rolling-out into the irish countryside because they were terrified that Eircom would sue them for every penny they had even though they are funded by the government ...
6. And finally how is it that in the North of ireland <yes the place where up until very lately bombs were going off willy-nilly> has 100% Dsl coverage and provides this service @ no problem to the Republican countys on its borders ...

Gonna quit ranting ... Am i the only one who finds this shite bemusing ???

I mean, after 5 self induced petit mort's none of us wanted to go out and lob bricks at either the brits or one another.

well, theres always worst situations tbh, you could always live in Greece, and have regional limitations for adsl packages !
or use isp's that dont give the connection you pay them for, cos they are the only isp's that give adsl connections for a specific town etc, so you pay them for 512k for example, what you get tho is 19k/s max, and when you call them to rant, you get the response : "we are sorry for the incovenience but our network is being hammered atm" (for the 19th continued week!)

got NTL and mostly it runs fine, so move into the city.

and the Hub for IT or whatever it is, is basicly because everyones call center is located here, I look out the window I see IBM and Xerox, I work at Creative and Symantec is next door
