Yes, that's an accceptable defence :D

If you don't have someone who is willing to drive a car there. Which funnily enough most finnish people do with first snow :D
unforutnately if you work in london (like myself) we simply cant afford to live in/near the capital (i have a hour commute every morning to get to work)

What the? school canceled because of 6 inches of snow? weaklings :<

I remember only once my schoolday was canceled because of snow, but it was like 30 inches deep that day.

Oh and sunny and fresh here.

Problem with us is you get the weather warnings etc. from the Met Officer who state 'do not use the roads unless you absoluotely have to.' Most of us look at that in the context of 'only in dire emergencies,' which obviously school etc. isn't.

haha yeah, this made me laugh considering the amount of snow outside:

"The Highways Agency is advising drivers to check weather forecasts and road conditions before they set out.

People who must travel are advised to take warm clothes, food, water, a torch and a spade. "

We all have to stay home from work as our Tea will go cold...

Nah Chronic's right though, our society is unpreparred so transport pretty much comes to a stand still.

the reason schools get cancelled is not everyone lives near them, also lots of accidents occur in the snow because *again* we are so un-used to driving in these conditions. If a teacher is stuck in traffic for hours on end, and another has an accident thats 2 classes which are gonna be fucked for the day.

hehe i have all this in my backpack on a normal day tbh (part of my survival instinct!)

well last night they said it was going to be cold enough to freeze the whatnotts of a brass monkey and seeing as we have no central heating or double glazing this flat is teh cold so got rdy for bed this involved:

jimmy jams
ultra thick knee high socks
hotwater bottle
duvets x2
blankets x2
oil filled radiator on full blast at foot of bed

went to sleep all nice and tosty cuddled up with my new tattoo (trying to to lay on it incase it fell off...)

woke up at 2am soaking wet (sweat) boiling my arse off! cold indeed! pfft had to try and get my jam jams off but could barely move under the weight of all the additional bedding so almost died from heat exhaustion!

and after all that wake up this morning hoping for snow or at least a bit of frost and what do i get?

rain!

and a pine cone :(

gone right off snow today :(

Well well, I had so much fun in the snow today. Riding my bike like an absolute cunter bag (as usual) (One of those pricks that goes 20mph down a crowded high street) Fucking funny as, coming up to a road as fast as I can without slipping, slammed on my brakes went wildly out of control, stopped 90o to my original posistion right on the edge of the road, cool as a cumcumber!

Coming back in the sludge was uber too, doing about 18-20 up and down through all the shit possible..loved it.

would be fun if we had snow days in estonia. we have cold days tho, when year 1-5 dont have to go to school when its -20c outside and years 6-9 dont have to go in -25c. but for high school, no snow days and no cold days, school all year round!
