OK here goes...
Looking for your list of songs that are "touching a nerve". From just awesome, to kitschy, to melancholic, to sickly sentimental.... everything is allowed as long as it´s one of the songs that keeps sending shivers down your spine every time you hear them.

I`ll start with

Bright Eyes - Art Garfunkel
Nobody Home - Pink Floyd
Fool on the Hill - Beatles
Everybody Hurts - REM
No Children - Mountain Goats

Daft Punk - Interstellar 5555 (aka Discovery)

An anime series/album, rather than a single track, but you cant watch just one and walk away :) The series is on youtube - search for "daft punk interstellar part one" and work your way through it if you have time!

Part 2(Aerodynamic) and Part 8(Superheroes) are the 'shiver-down-my-spine' ones for me though :)

Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight
Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
Supertramp - Dreamer

And more of those 'classics' nothing really compares to those especially not the mass production shit of today's music.
