Just finished the Riftwar Saga;

Magician
Silverthorn
A Darkness at Sethanon

Was really good, much better than the last books i read (Banned and the Banished), but i still preferred The Black Magician by Trudi Canavan...but only by a tad!

hehe thats just the beginning, loads more of them, next batch is the Empire trilogy (daughter, servant and mistress of the empire) which are amazing, much more focused on politics in kelewan, then you got the krondor books, then the serpentwar saga (much more focused on fighting in midkemia), and finally the talon of the silver hawk books (probably my favourite so far ), so get reading!

The Riftwar Trilogy are awesome reads. I've been recommending them to friends for years. Not met anyone who thought they were crap.

How does the Empire Trilogy link to Riftwar? I assume the politics is to do with the emporer and creating an alliance with Lyam etc?

Is it linked to the first trilogy as in character guest appearances etc or is it a far more seperated (no talk of dwarves, elves, Moredhal and the umm...Redhedal or whatever they called)

I am not showing much interest in the Empire trilogy, the politics were a little boring! However Krondor looks really good

the empire trilogy is to do with the empire but more to do with one of the houses there, i think i actually prefer the empire books, in parts anyway

I struggled to read the emipire stories

BUt have read everything else relating to Pug and the universes he travels.

It is best to read the Riftwar saga first before jumping into the other ones, as you will know to much about the characters you have not read about yet.

riftwar first then can pretty much read the rest in any order, chronologically though it seems to go like this:

Riftwar
Empire
Krondor
Serpentwar
Conclave of Shadows

it helps to read them in order but is not strictly necessary (there will be a few characters popping up that will have been in other books but they are usually explained, i read serpentwar before krondor and didnt feel i didnt understand what was going on )

Krondor is 9 years after Riftwar. Empire is mainly Kelewan politics from the blurb so it looks like you can skip Empire if you so desire.

We should make a book section of the forum, or somewhere to recommend good books

Gotta agree with TdC - 1st one was the best, Silverthorn and Darkness were ok though. I always thought the Daughter of the empire books were the best Feist books (prolly cos hes only co-wrote them).

Riftwar and all the other krondor type books are nowhere near as good as magician :/

How can you like Trudy Canavan? Priestess of the white is one of the only fantasy books I've ever put down in disgust without finishing - and I even finished the new Eddings books!

On a side note, the best fantasy trilogy I've read recently was the Kushiel series by Jacqueline Carey, fantastic story, well written and lots and lots of hanky panky

Heh, years since I read that trilogy. I was really impressed by A Darkness At Sethanon, cracking end to the story.

I don't think Feisty has really recaptured the qualities in that trilogy in anything I've read of his since, but he's still better than most

I've not read Priestess of the White or the other 2. I have only read her "Black Magician" trilogy.

Silverthorn is only really good cause of Jimmy the Hand, Darkness is rather good though, the rest of his books are good, although none are as good as Magician. The best author I've read is still Steven Erickson, although I have just started the Terry Goodkind book 'Wizards first Rule', anyone else read it? if so, what did they think? (although please don't give away the ending =P)

Quite enjoyed the first few, later books aren't so hot.
