The point is, it's when we were in India, our soldiers were shooting Indians, not Brits, in Ireland, they were shooting Irish, not Brits.

At least the persecuted were Irish, whilst the Protestants were quite happy remaining the UK.

That cuts both ways. There's some serious misconceptions about the difference between the IRA and PIRA, but you've actually contributed to that. The factors that brought the British Army (and the Tans) to Ireland in the 20s are not the factors that brought them to Northern Ireland in the 60s; quite the reverse in fact. And same with the factors that created the IRA and PIRA, which were very different organisations ideologically.
