The perfect ranger template

Was discussing this with someone today, a couple of important points

1) Respecc option comes with patch 1.50 (eta 3-5 months who knows)

2) For all of you saying "IM SPECCING BOW TO 50 cause there may be some cool bow skills later"

Dont spec BOW to 50. Spec it at about 43-44 MAX. ( i would spec it to around 40) Your + items and realm rank will take you to 50 easy. IF these additional bow skills come (and its a big doubt they will) Save your respec and use accordingly.

As it stand the additional BOW skills are availble to buy with Realm points.

(for lurikeens the only class that should be playing rangers)
SO FOR INTELLIGENT PLAYERS (use this spec)
RB 42 stealth 40 path 36 rest on peirce.
so with items this is (50RB 50 STLTH 36path 42 PRCE)
Forget CD its wank.

FOR U DUMB-ASSES (use this spec)
50 RB 41 stealth 27 path 30 pierce.

DONT BOTHER WITH CD its shite.....

And PF at 29 for that last dex buff will do me fine. Pierce should be high 30s for when you have to melee them annoying albs, they get the fright of their life when you hit em for 100 with your piercer. You dont need stealth, just hide up a tree.

btw. luris r not the only playable rangers, CD rox, path should stay in the 20s (depends on spec thou, can be good with low stealth), a stealth'less ranger can rock, pierce is good on luris but swords r nice on celts. Actually the only thing i can 100% agree with is that i would not spec my bow to 50 (that can be changed back with the respeccing to thou)

I can see an arguement for using a celt, if you wanna tank it a bit more....

Not everyone plays an RPG for stats alone, that way kinda sucks.

None of my characters were race selected to be great at what they do, but who cares? Not me

36 bow (+11 from items, and I should manage +3 from rp)
36 stealth (same)
40 path - second best buff in everything
39 pierce - gives me the 3rd part in a use-anytime chain

Should give me a good chance to melee assasins, as well as still having max bow/stealth high pf

haha i play a elf ranger 45 now u have higher quicknes as luri only prob when finaly epic armor + 100 % drop rate from epic mobs arive i will cap my dex and my qui so only ur advantage is that u are small and hard to be seen tra la la but only reason i chosen elf cose i look prettyer about my final points in skills
before df arrives and stealth nerf i will be
47+ realm ranks bow
40 path will ned that dex/qui buff
18 blades for fire blade
39+11 stealth
rest in cd
i use blade + shield becose i managed to block 50 lvl arrows bolts hits with it only time i use 2 blades when i want to suicide no targets to kill exept caster and i dont wanna snipe him or to go in crowd of green albs after /wave to huma and 50 lvl co when they start to search for me
after df and epic af and stuff gets here
43+7 from items and ranks bow
40 path will probably leave there
39 blades for spectrum blade
29 + items ranks in stealth
0 in cd
i choosed blades over pierce cose i dont go meleeing with a tank only archers assasins i could choose pierce and melle green tanks but i see no fun in attacking some one lower then blue con when i am alone in the field
and dont forget this game is about FUN

I've gone blades too for time I meet leather wearers.
But that blue con Armsman outside Crimm last night really cooked my goose in melee.
Im going for 40 pf....39 blades...bow 39 and rest in stealth.

People make rangers they way they want to play them simple as that. there is no right or wrong way to make a ranger.

Luri make best sniper rangers, Celts make best melee ranger and elf comes in between. Thats just my opinion tho just like everyone elses.
Max or not to max bow skill?
Hmm dont see anything wrong in maxing it if that person wants to. We not all out to making the umber ranger. some want to make ones that suit their play stlye

Umm im almost 100% sure im gonna max out bow since i wanna do dmg with bow and not with blade/pierce, im speccing 18 blade ,yes im blade couse it got no - against assassins and its assassins we should encounter in melee most of the time , im taking pf to 29 or 34 and im speccing cd to 12(evade combo) stealth will be around 40ish, then i got some points left over that i could do whatever i want with, them will most likely be put in blade tho

Bow Max ( Primary Damage is done with your bow ...)

CD 12 ( evade combo )

PF 29 ( dex/ quick buff )

Stleath and pierce still remains .. Stealth will be quite high .. around 40

Pierce I'm not gonna take higher than 25 ( Altghough a lvl 48 pierce OTD DOES REQUIRE 30 spec in pierce ..

I'm ranger .. not a melee class.

Whit patch 1.50 in mind i think ill go this way :

36 pathfinding (for the 20 + dmg add )
39 pierce (blades if respec comes)
14 Celtic dual (left over points + the 12 style is nice)
32 Stealth (whit + stealth items this will be good enough to be not seens by non assasins)
42 Bow (this can go up to 50 whit items when not using a bow that has + bow , so i will be using player crafted )

perfect ranger template:

delete it and make a nightshade (we've too many rangers and not enough shades!!!)

if not then use a balanced template, usually work out better in the long run.

I heard raising bow above 50 (ie. max spec and +items) raises your dmg output only very slightly, talking like 2 dmg a shot here.

So a person with 39 (+11) in bow would do about 22 dmg less per shot than someone with 50 (+11). Not really worth it for the hundreds of spec points it costs imo

True speccing bow to max might not always be worth it(even tho i think its alot more then 22dmg diff from 39with items), but then again im a ranger and im gonna kill with my bow and not with my blade/pierce, stealth will still be high with max bow and u dont need higher then 29pf imo.

45 bow (50 with rank+items EVEN with a crafted bow)
35 stealth (getting 10 (11 with same gear at 50) and 3 (4 soon ^^) from rank as it is now)

Elea, you get the 3rd part of the use anytime pierce chain at 39, and it's called the Cobra's Bite.

The lvl 34 Asp's Bite chains off the Tarantula, which u can use after a target blocks. Pretty useless if you dual wield

First I was going for 39 bow, 39 stealth, 46 pf, 25 pierce, 5 celtic - that was prepatch, before druid got way better dex/qui buffs than rangers can ever get and before I heard of assasin's see through stealth ra-thingie, now I've been thinking about 39 bow, 39 stealth, 34 pf, 39 blades, 9 cd after the respec as I'm into piercing right now.

Anyways, I'll take bow and stealth up to 39, leave piercing at 25, pf at 29 and cd at 1 till I've made up my mind to 100% about what spec template I'm going for.

with items and realmrank, sooner or later (I guess depends on how much I rvr, and when they implement patch 1.49 for epic gear giving + recurve) be 50 stealth and recurve or close.

38 in piercing cause meleeing is fun, and if I at some time am fed up with arching, I can dish out some nice damage melee.
