Played a couple of hours spread across all 5 games this afternoon. Valve have used the extra time well to give the package a nice polished feel. The visuals are very nice, smooth and the controls work well, all in all it is looking very good indeed. Will post more when I get some proper play time done.

got it off steam today. played through ep1 as i never got through it when it first came out and kinda forgot about it. really looking forward to ep2 now from the reviews i have read it is excellent. half life is truly the most immersive game i have ever played - i think it is amazing that 3 years on they still have the most emotive character models ever created. the 'zombines' quip from alyx was the first time a computer game ever actually made me think 'aww, cute!'. shame i'm working all weekend, will have to wait until next weds for a day off to blast through ep2!

I finally relented and bought this on Steam last night for the PC. It's still grating that I've had to pay $10 more than the original Black Box in order to get nothing extra other than the ability to give away my codes for Half Life 2 and Episode 1.

I find it disgusting that, having already spent around $60 on Half Life 2 and Ep 1, I am now not given the option for a cheaper set.

I've decided the only way to let my brain cope with it, is to forget that this 'Give-Away' bollocks is in there and instead concentrate on the fact that £28.99 has gotten me Ep2, TF2, Portal and "Extreme Peggle"!!! ;) Not to shabby when thought about it in those terms.

Peggle is a level limited demo and Portal can be completed within an hour or so ;)

But TF2 is worth the price of the orange box alone.

really enjoying the orange box ; ) didnt rate half life 2 that well first time round, ran crap on my pc.. but on widescreen in high def i'm really enjoying it, a lot more than i did halo 3 single player. portal is awesome, though im kind of stuck now and dont want to cheat, driving me crazy :p

This or Halo 3 next week then? Keeping in mind I've never played any Half-Life games.

hard to say... i actually couldnt be bothered to play halo 3 singleplayer by myself, only played when my mate came round. its decent, just nothing new at all.. so you lack the effort to play it. i love(d) the multiplayer though, really good fun etc.. though 200 ranked games later and i find myself a bit bored. though its awesome how you can record multiplayer games/take pictures.. didnt use it much.

half life 2 is imo better single player game, though team fortress 2 is a bit 'random' ... more about random fun, can really get into it though i think its pretty awesome, doesnt have half the functions halo 3s multiplayer has though, no where near as polished.

HL2 + epi 1&2 >>> Halo 3 Single player
TF2 >>> Halo 3 Multiplayer
Portal owns.

Orange Box wins it by a country mile!

More towards The Orange Box anyway, but all my mates have Halo 3 and prolly haven't heard of Orange Box (weirdos!). That change anything or not? :D

Just got it on PC, cant wait to try portal out, playing peggle while it downloads :)

There is a mod that allows you to use the portal gun in standard HL2 too
