Boring no chance I'll be watching that then. And I agree CB taking a pen before the captain and teams best player is bait huh?

That stupid cunt Almaeda cost them the game anyway, the amount of distance shots he drilled over when others were in better positions, fucking obscene.

Yeah because if he said right I want to go first the manager would say "no chance mate your 5th wind your neck in!" ;) Also I believe in most cases it is voluntary. And you macs are too defensive he made no mention of slagging him off and the comments could just of easily of been attacking the manager.

Edit now he has so have at him.

Was it the managers decision though? after what happened with Nani I'm not so sure... looks like he saved himself for the 5th penalty to get the glory and failed.

He wasn't exactly great this match either, shame :( my bet on him being top scorer is screwed now :(

Yes it was the manager's decision; you saw them writing the list at the end of extra time.

You are fucking dumb, the 5th penalty is usually the pressure one and if he took it upon himself to go for it then good on him. He was 5th but regardless you cannot call him a bottler or anything else purely because he was taking one. Now how about you take that shit you said back instead of looking for another angle to attack him from??

Huge risk deciding to take the 5th pen vs Spain, along with putting so many defenders in front on your self

I won't argue with your first point but the 5th penalty is not the pressure one because it often doesn't get taken. It is potentially the glory one as that is likely to be the penalty to win it. Penalty shoot outs are about pressure, if you can get ahead then it eases the pressure on your teams other penalty takers.

Yes because Ronaldo wrote the penalty list and decided who should go ahead of him.

Facepalm is not enough for the idiots in this thread.

Yay for personal insults. (y)

Every penalty has a shit ton of pressure.. the more penalties that go past the less likely the next one is going to be taken.. that's why most teams put their best penalty takers first..

He is supposed to be Portugal's captain, their talisman, did he look like that today? no.

I know he used to play for Man Utd about 3 years ago but come on :ROFLMAO:

The manager and the rest of the team normally discuss it.. just in case a player doesn't feel like he can't take a penalty... I doubt the manager made the decision to put Ronaldo 5th to take a penalty on purpose, if he did then he should be sacked right now.

I don't understand why you'd take a CB who has just played two hours of football and isn't a known goalscorer to take such an important penalty. Portugal had two fresh men off the bench in the extra time, one who had already scored against Denmark and had the confidence to score another I'm sure. Bruno Alves was the wrong choice. But I agree with Keitanz, for ONCE, that Cristiano should have stepped up and put it in earlier rather than being fifth

I'm not saying Ronaldo should have been the 5th pen taker, it was a massive risk, but they took it. Suggestions that the manager should now be sacked, or that Ronaldo is calling the shots however, are just ludicrous.

Dont know what I enjoyed more. Watching some exceptionally taken penalties with a couple of outstanding saves thrown in, Spain reaching the final or the look on Ronaldos face when Portugal lost. Shame the greasy twat never started crying, mind you, would have probably smudged his mascara.
