I get what you are saying and there does need to be a limit to how robotic or soulless the game should become. But this issue can be so important and is so easy to fix that I see no reason to not fix it.

I hate not having it, I want it to be about the skill level of the players not of the referees. Even if my team loses cause of the goal line tech. Feels too much like cheating or not deserving the win on own merits.

As for the Ireland stuff well those three old men they have there are not good pundits, dislike them with a passion. But even they can be right once in a while

No they don't but let's not split hairs; Ireland's group was only regarded as easier than Germany's because Ireland were in it. And Cerb is correct, the RTE lot were hugely critical of Ireland even before the tournament started (mainly because of Trappatoni's team selection) and believe me, they pulled no punches during. The quality of analysis is WAY better on RTE than the BBC and especially that ITV dreck (ironically, Roy Keane excepted).

I agree, he is full of it. Is critical of players because they didn't play 'for a big club', whatever that means. Thinks managers like Mark Hughes and Steve Bruce are shit as well. Well if they're shit what are you Johnny Big Bollocks?

England aren't a bad side, far from it. Organised. Disciplined and some players with pace and flair. We're not going to win this but getting out of a group with one of the hosts in, our old enemy France and a team we had never beaten in a competitive game is nothing to be sniffed at.

In saying that Spain don't really have a plan B so if we can neutralise them we could just grind out a result.
