It's not done on goal difference, we've covered this. It's games between the drawing teams first, then goals scored, then blah blah. Same reason Greece went through despite having a 0 GD.

well spain and italy drew 1-1, italy and croatia drew 1-1 and so far croatia put more goals past Ireland than Italy so how's that worked out then.....or am i reading it wrong?

Influenza is right, the Ireland results do count. It based on goals scored across all the games, not during one particular game. So Italy have scored in all 3 games and Croatia have not yet.
