You are in real trouble if you try and use equiveillance in the US/Western systems compared to China's, they aren't alike at all in many aspects and especially not in the worse ones.
Unless you're putting an equivalence between China and the United States (for all it's failings). In which case, wow - China's winning the culture war. Which is terrifying.
