It would be a lot better if it wasn't so faked.

Now, if they could do all that without any CGI or whatever, now THAT would be impressive...

Ermmm..... I don't it would be possible without CGI, or it would be waaay more expensive to set up each shot anyway.....

Basically it's a whole load of different parts of the car like steering wheel, electric windows and stuff all layed out in a long line with each one somehow turning/using/switching on the next. Kind of like dominoes falling into each other.

Difficult to describe really, basically its CGI from start to finish but is bloodly clever and looks bloody impressive.

TBH - the fact that it's CGI makes it not very clever.....

Still think it's funky tho...

Definately disagree there. To do stuff like that in CGI takes talent, ingenuity and loads of time.

All i'm saying is, it doesn't matter that it's fake ... it's still funky :p

There's no reason it has to be CGI. This type of thing has been done for years and is actually a really specialised art form.

Some guy set one up to get in the guiness book of records, iirc the whole 'chain' lasted in excess of 10 minutes. No reason why they couldn't have hired him, given him a stack of car parts, and let him get on with it.

The resolution is way too low on that stream to tell if it is CGI or not tbh

umm watch the wheels roll up hill + the exhaust rolling across the floor, it's certainly not CGI throughout just heavily edited the lazy barstards, beats the Ikea comical genius of late i guess.

I suppose you think it's OK if "musicians" don't play their own instruments and that "remixes" are good original music too...

Yes - now and again you'll find some CGI bods with "talent" - but at the end of the day - to do it properly would be a lot harder.

I suppose it's all down to what you define as talent - I define a talent as something someone can do better than almost anyone else.

The fact that I can play the piano, and well, doesn't mean I've got a "talent"....

instrument= object played to produce a musical sound.

talent= natural ability to do something well.

Talent = Natural endowment or ability of a superior quality.

I'm very talented then, if you know what I mean ;)

The clever bit is the whole idea of the advert.

It may well be CGI but who really cares??
Its the advert concept which is what makes the advert good!

When I first saw the advert I was immediately riveted to it to find out what was going on....which is exactly what they wanted to do.

There's no denying that it's a good concept, it's just that they could have made it so much more impressive than they actually did.

A wasted opportunity, IMO.

I was under the impression that no cgi was used at all.

As was mentioned earlier this sort of thing has been done before.

The tyres rolling uphill is often given as a reason that it has to be cgi, but with weights put inside the tyres at the top, a slight push will be enough to get them to roll up a slope half a revolution.

I remember seeing this short film on bbc2 years ago, which is similar to the ad: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005UW7W/103-5303876-1535866?vi=glance

The tryes rolled uphill a little bit to far and after passing on their kinetic energy failed to roll back down the slope, the exaust rolling across the floor reminded me of Summo in a butch car!

All in all a good advert up against the usual attempts....Ohh our car is good, watch how a women can drive away from the volcano/ drive rally car/ indicate/ dodge a moose........

other shite adds include.. Furniture! (lets dance teh congo, spend 3 grand at our furniture warehouse cos we dance and have fun!!!!)

i want to pay micheal winners low cost car insurance (although apparently i need to have nearly died 3 months ago with a heart condition to qualify for the low cost rates)

People are payed real money to produce daytime TV, amazing

http://www.djellison.plus.com/wheel_roll.jpg shows one possible way to make tyres roll uphill and the tyres in the ad don't even do half a revolution before hitting the next one. With the weight where it shows in the picture there's no reason for them to roll back down.
