I`m no fan of scamming believe me, but when it`s part and parcel of the game, then it`s a dog eat dog world, it happened in EO and this is old, therefore a few may have seen it, but here it is in the scammers own words.

It is a very long and detailed account, but hats off to the guy who pulled this off, it`s pure genius.......................................

Thats almost impossible, you have to read into the lengths he went to for the scam and how he builds relationships. You also have to understand how eve works.

i know how eve works, so there is one bit out the way. there is a synopsis for lord of the rings, it cant be more complicated than that.

But its not the same :m00:

Well, as best and as summarised as i can:

Part 1 - He describes the basics of Eves farming and how useless it is. He also describes how Trade routes work, buying low in an area, traveling and selling high. He decides to make money on trade routes and takes out a loan from a "friend", some nerd who has 3 comps permanently running Eve on macros.

Part 2 - He uses this money to run trade routes and pays back the guy in full + interest. He describes how the pirate scheme of Eve is flawed and they prey on weak cargo ships.

Part 3 - His addiction increases, waking up 6 every morning to play. Farms very hard and buys a combat ship.

Part 4 - Eve patch so his plan of running in combat no longer works.

Part 5 - He and his irl mate go to kill some pirates that destroyed his cargo ship, he loses his combat ship and almost all his money.

Part 6 - He comes across the blueprint idea, where you buy blueprints for battleships and then have the ability to make the best ships in the game. Because they are so expensive, people can come together and buy them then copy the blueprints for all the people.

Part 7 - He and his irl mate have the idea to get people in for buying the blueprints to the best ship in the game, the Apocalypse at 1.250 billion. They start a newbie guild with 18 members and start posting on every eve forum about the business deal.

Part 8 - After 3 days and no feedback he realises he needs to build peoples trust. They make ~50 hotmail accounts and post replies to their threads on the eve forums, making perfect answers to difficult questions.

Part 9 - Make a fake meeting for all interested investors on irc, making different clients and 4 real investors turn up for the meeting. They have perfect conversations with themselves about the investment, all pre-planned. One difficult investor wants to ring him up irl to make sure its for real.

Part 10 - He doesnt want this guy to have his phone number, and being the largest investor doesnt wanna lose him. So he gives him the local student libraries number instead of his own, telling him to ring then running to the library to answer the call. The guy threatens to kill him if its a scam.

Part 11 - He collects all of the cash (480M), transfers it to a new character and deletes his. Splits it with his irl mate 180:300. Tells all the people how they have been scammed. The angry guy tells him he wont have a minutes peace without the phone ringing, he never told him he was ringing the porn section of the library. 2 never replied. The one that was meant to be his friend told him he was crying irl and would never be able to trust anyone again. He then realises that Eve is really dull once his accomplishment is achieved, he offers 300 million to a guy in the starter zone, transfers it and deletes his char. Goes back to rl.

The beauty of it though is how it took months to do and he built up a whole scammer profile as a family man with kids. And that he scammed the guy that helped him get started in Eve for all his money.

Now i MUST go study :p

Thats the whole point, after wanting it so bad and working so hard for it he realised it was just a game and ultimately worthless, the fun was in the chase not the kill.

Tought you were suppose to do piracy and such in it, I have never played it or put my mind into what its about just the idea I've gotten about it. And scamming is a form of piracy tbh.

You can be a pirate yes, but you can do missions/mining/hauling/alliance pvp/manufacturing etc there are lots of different paths you can choose.
