The magic of CS is dying

There's something happening in CS, not the crappy upgrades, not the continual increase of cheating, or the annoying little bastards that should be in bed or at school. It's the lack of comedy names.
When I started playing CS about this time last year I used to be entertained just by reading the funny names, but it appears that these days names such as "dark warrior" or "Satan" are appearing or just plain boring clan names. The only funny name I saw recently was "strangely brown" which brought a smile to my face. Can anybody else remember the classics?

People seem to agree that beta 5 was the peak since then with one bug or another it seems to of gone wrong.

hmm.i actually think its very easy to say "oh its not as good as it was.."
nothing ever is ppl thats the truth.
i think it plays very well for what its worth theres a lot of kids play and SOME cheating wankers,but generally i dont think its that bad.mind i've only been playing 3 months or so!
quake 2 still 0wns for me.and thats a fucking old game lol

No 1.3 is a great version of Cs, its the cheats that are responsible for any death of cs.

And the cheats have nothing to do with this version, im sure they would function just as well on previous versions.

must say i agree with you.it plays a treat dunno why ppl have to find fault all the time.
get the cheats sorted and away u go! mind i still dont theres as many cheats as ppl believe.when u look at the avarage age of the player its not suprising we see such stupid claims.
trouble is what with all the hiding etc its the perfect game for wall hack.
i doubt if it'd make much odds in dm OR ctf q2 tbh.

I've used the names Yaskin Forrit; Watch with mother; Advanced Muppetry; Shed of dread and Satan's Codpiece.
Ones that made me smile include Mr Loud Trousers; Dancing Toast and Bulge Temptingly.

I disagree since some cheats are much easier to crate in some versions whether it be CS/HL as the cause. Such as the bug/cheat where a console command could change your skin.

The various skins and models that used to be around in quake 2 times, defined the community.

Imho thats just one of the many reasons why Q3 failed, pure servers and all.

Cs now fails because of the general shift in the people playing online fps games.

2-3 years ago, with the might phone bill keeping the pinions away from the scene 3-4 nights a week, because they couldn't aford to play. The world was a happier place, less kids, less bitching, less of the stupid kiddie elite names, less cheats ect ect...

Also cheats such as a wall hack would help you nothing in a dm game, but in a he who shoots first game like cs, they give you a 70-80% advantage in a straight fight, let alone a helping hand in avoiding the mass of the nme force.

Maybe in the future this pay to play whatever might have the effect of 'the phone bill' but i doubt it, a straight charge of 10 quid a month can't realy make up for the 100-200 or so most people used to spend on there bills every month

CS has blown hard ever since it left beta, 7.1 rocked, 1.0 bit, 5.2 was good but I enjoyed 7.1 more.
