Ok, so the wimens are invading our "Would you stick your bacon cobb into X for Y" threads, so I have decided we males will have to start an invasion into the girly threads!

Sadly there arent any :(

So plan B! Make girly threads, and then invade them! muhahaaha :D

Ok, so this is a thread about kitchens, were we talk about stuff like what colour we want that work top to be in and whether we think the fridge would look good here or over there.

I found this one and personally thought it looked nice, but I'm not sure I like the idea having the microwave that high. Also, do you think the middle bit would get in the way?

Other than that, I like this kitchen.

Discuss!

I think the floor needs to be changed. Laminate wood flooring FTW rather than the lino it has atm!!

I think black work surfaces are good because they absorb the heat making the food go off quicker...is that ok?

Actually if it's marble as i assume it is, black surfaces usually are, it stays cooler to keep stuff fresh longer while cooking. Also, black marble helps see when it's filthy.

You weren't off by much though ;)

I like your girly thread invasion logic Dukat - nice logic

This particular kitchen has the nice work surface in the middle but the size of the room doesn't lend itself to having the space for it. The appliances are woefully mismatched; white fridge-freezer and microwave but cream dishwasher? Total no-no on continuity. As are cream handles on the unit doors with black worktops.

Dark wood also tends to make a kitchen seem both smaller and more antiquated, unless some softer surface lighting and cream blinds can offset that to create a more 'farmhouse' sort of kitchen.

Dammit, now I'm going to find some pictures of kitchens I like....

Also from a cook point of view, that's one crappy cluttered, door banging kitchen. Not really planned out.

I agree that the flooring might need to be changed, and maybe get rid of that middle bit, but I thought it was ok apart from that :( maybe with flowers it would be better as rubric suggests!

Also there doesn't seem to be an oven or hob so thats a massive error, how can you cook without one!!! (microwaves don't count)

I eat my zebras raw!! :D There's no time to get them to a hob or an oven, otherwise the bloody hyenas get to them and it all gets nasty :(

Lack of naked women reclining on work surfaces is a major flaw!

I have a red stoned floor with wooden cupboards, solid oak working tops and an old style ceramic sink, brass fixings :)

Only thing that ruins it is the washing machine and fridge freezer.

Will post pictures when I get home

its called a conversation kitchen! somebody apparently thought it fit to talk in a kitchen, probably not a man. Kitchens are for eating, beating and fucking. and for grrls, cooking.

Aren't there like companies that ask you what you want your kitchen to be and they design one around you? Expensive but cool. However my mind races as to what all those from FHOT might put in their dream kitchen - zebra blood drainer for Dukat? A machine that gives out hugs & cuddles so Laddey feels loved? Poo analysis device for megadave?

More suggestions welcome :)

Anyway, as I'm alone now I can post properly! I've kinda been in and out of house/room design for a few years, generally allways liked the idea of having a kitchen/other rooms to a way I'd find it good/good looking in general. Couple of general rules for kitchens (for me anyway)

- Stainless steel (Fridges etc)
- Black/Granite (doesn't have to be real)/marbleesque material for table tops.
- White floor, either tiled or wooden (Flat flooring, stains are a bitch..)
- Walls either have to be white, or a light blue/light green/light yellow type of colour.

Stuff like appliences are varied.

actully, planning your kitchen is gay.

(dont worry, planned mine as well)

Haha :D TBH, it's not my fault when I'm older I actually want to have a house which doesn't look like crap ;p I've seen loads of friends places/family places and they just look messy.

Rather be considered gay and have a nice looking house, and be considered straight and live in a pile of shite ;) Muwahahaha..

*Just needs to finish off his entertainment room and livingroom* :D
