The invasion of the gg people

Has anybody else noticed an increasing number of gg people. These are the people that type gg during a map change as if anyone gives a rats ass.
No doubt some of you are becoming them, please tell me why.

Good point. Back in the day good games were actually good games, because of the single player game model. In this day and age it's very rare you actually get a good game with an 7v7 or whatever. Good games were in fact good games because they had 10-15 strong players all battling it out with no weaker players in the game and it was one hell of a victory when you came out the other side on top. Iv'e only actually been in this situation once in a tfc game (2 years ago), and twice in quake 2 games, on public servers. It's is indeed very rare, some come close, but there's nearly allways a weaklink/s in the game which prevents it from being so.

But hey what you have to remember, a good 'game' in many cs players eyes, is just a good personal score, not actually the game. Most of the same people i see typing 'gg' i also see typing 'bad game' 'bg' which pretty much says it all, especialy when you look at the persons 'score' which is usually 10-10 or 7-10 ect......

I can honestly say in the 4 years iv'e been bashing now, iv'e only typed 'gg' about 3-4 times.

There's no glory in my eyes fragging newbies, and the non comitted, it's only the hardcore, and beating my peers that ever made me stand up and feel happy about 'gg's'

You take things far too seriously. A good game these days is where no pricks, leet speakers or cheaters fuck the game up. Must importantly, a game where I had FUN, win or lose

there are GGs, you just gotta know where to play.

just now we had a TPF vs TPF tfc game (there are 2 TPF forums, so it was between the 2) and it was one of the best games ive played..ever..
4 maps of great organised tfc, with plenty of team play, and no whining.

as for on pubs, yesh its rare to get a gg. i do get some ggs, normally when about half the team gets together and works like a team. it's fairly rare now days, but when you get a gg you know it.

as for people typing bg, i type it qwhen a gamewas worse than average.

they just do it because you can now because CS gives you the pause at the end with the scoreboard in which to do so.

well in q2 etc gg is just polite at the end of a game to say u enjoed playing it,tho there r some ppl who only say it if they got a good score
just the same as getting killed by a good shot demands a "good shot" or "gs" imo.
but perhaps cs players are too immature for that?

I play CS and I say 'gg' at all the map changes because i've had fun. It doesn't matter if one team gets slaughtered or anything else Im just say it as I have enjoyed the game

^ same for me, it has to be said it takes a lot for a CS game to be good in my eyes these days though

yesh, but if people really are bothered by fun, why do they whine so much

the number of people who whine about getting killed, whine about people camping(which is part of the game), whine about seige style maps, whine about how dark it is, whine about AWpers..oh god, just stop whining, if you felt like whining(but headed my advice and didn't) then it wasn't a gg, if you had fun, and were able to complement people who killed you paticurly well..then it was a gg.

just a side note, wjat are the chances of getting a "role playing maps" server?
what i mean is CS maps which take a more realistic seige style game. im thinking estate, assault, drugwar ect..

i really like those style of maps..alot more team work involved than yer standard 'objective based DMing'.

Get that a lot in TFC - but not CS

Prolly cos in CS after your dead the ppl still alive can't read your typing. But even if you could I doubt your average CS player would say it - your hit the nail on the head with immature.

Something to back this up (and this is an oldie) is the number of bloody times you get told your cheating

well im inclined to agree with u jas,but the replies above are very heartning , and as u say u cant type gg cos ue dead.
i have done it many times lol but no no one seems to notice.lol!
in fairness i find the std of play on bw servers is higher than any other,so maybe thats got summat to do with it. u seen the ppl that play on uk2net????

Yeah.

I only started playing CS a while ago (I have always been a TFC fanatic) and I started on the UK2 beginner servers. It nearly made me give up. (Sidenote : thier webby is the worst piece of design/layout/copy writing I have seen in a LONG while)

But then I got good enough to hold my own in your average Jolt or BW server - the difference is amazing. Made playing enjoyable again.

On a gg related note - I always find I have a better game if I play at the same time as a mate. First time I tried this was with fellow BW newsie SuJ - its far more fun.

yesh, i used to play on an independant cs server called "UK 8 till late". after a week or 2 i became part of the comminity there. one of the clans that played there got rcon on a nguk server, so on nguk#14 the same kind of people would play there during the days. when the 8late server went custom maps, it dwindled, and allthough we supported it as regulars, it officially died, so the nguk server was where the community carried on.

after several months of playing there, it all started to change. new people were playing there, who i realised i didn't enjoy playing with, the few clans that had played there were falling apart, and several of the ebst players joined a cack clan that me and another guy from the server were in..
i left the server and CS behind as it was no longer fun, and gave up on the clan a month later because it was no longer about fun either.

going back a month or so ago showed how much things had changed, CS is only fun with people who you know.
i still look for some of the guys who i used to play with on gametiger, but i rarely see them
on that note, if any of you here have seen a guy named "drennen" around lately, tell meh where,not played with him for about 5 months now..sad when i remember how i used to play with guys like him every night

I only type gg when ive had fun, this usually depends on 3 factors:

a) the ammount of idiots on the server
b) whether i did ok or not (no one likes spending all there time dead)
c) whether it was a map i enjoy playing (de_survivor, w00t!)

Actually I'm the one asking why they say gg at the end of the games and I've never played TFC in my life, I just play CS on occasion.

The truth is I thought it meant gotta go, and I was wondering why people were saying gotta go and being there on the next map. But I still don't see the point, maybe its because I'm impolite

I have to admit that unless I'm second or first I don't type GG because too busy gnawing my keyboard.


I do type it when the competition has been good - if there is a glamorous list of cool players on the server and I've done OK. There's no shame in getting 20-14 if you've got half of UKLA, some of 4k^ and noc and a smattering of sldr there. In fact its cause for celebration.

Sorry for being dim but do you mean that you've only felt like you've had a gg 3-4 times in 4 years?! IMHO u need to try playin different mods / games if that's the case, otherwise what's the point if u don't have a gg? Personally being an FLF'er through and through ( used to play TFC then evolved to FLF ) I pretty much have a gg every time a play. I mean in FLF ppl type 'gg' on a regular basis at the end of every round, not just at the map change. I've been playin FLF for over a year now and I still have an action packed gg pretty much all the time. If your not dedicated to the (supposed) realism of CS give FLF a go, u never know u might find urself typing gg a bit more frequently. (end of pimpage )

yesh, FLF is a great game. i dont play it much, because i find the rifles very boring(i mainly use the big machine gun or shotgun), but the people who play it are great. theres great teamplay, great comeradery, and everyone there wants a GG, not a good score. i think its because none of the imature CS players who just wanna have a good score get round to playing it =/
