I dunno i guess i must be in the minority but the book was not one of my favourites and i found the program tedius, clichéd and just generally a bit dull. I think i stopped watching after the 2nd ad break. Although the narrating was pretty funny but iirc alot of it was ripped straight from the book which would explain why it was so witty.

I love the Discworld series, got all the books in hardcover. Thought last night was as dull as dishwater. It just seemed really slow and stilted. My girlfriend who has never read any DW was confused as hell as none of the back story was explained very well.

I think the earlier discworld novels were better when the humour seemed more original, the later books are more polished in terms of plot and direction but not as amusing, hence I just pick the ones up I havnt read when I'm at the airport to read.

I'm uh...aquiring it very slowly atm, hopefully finished sometime tonight gah 1 seed etc.

Book was much much better, the only reason i understood what was happening and who the characters were is that i have read most of the books. Someone watching that who has never read the books would have no idea who the wizards are or medium dave etc

Carrott was poor. The wizards were funny but not as good as the book at all. o'god of hangovers seemed pointless

I really had high hopes for this but I have to say I was disappointed. If I hadnt known the story already I suspect Id have been quite confused, it didnt really seem to flow very well and as has been said, some of the acting was pretty stilted (I really didnt like the Faculty, who are some of my favourite characters in the books).

Only seen one so far. I didnt hate it, but tbh the jokes lacked the punch they had when you read them from the book. Maybe that was inevitable, im not sure... i dont like the guy who plays Death much really (the voice that is)... just didnt seem to convey the Death from the book very well in my opinion.

Tony Robinson was a great casting though, and David Jason as Albert of course.

The guy playing Nobby was good too - the worst was the one playing Susan - very wooden but I think that may have been down to direction.

I agree with folks saying it was confusing - I have read the book so I knew what was going on but otherwise it would have been very hard to follow as it had most key scenes but without enough background to explain it properly.

If I had been the director I would have been less ambitious about slavishly following the book and cut a fair number of scenes whilst expanding on those left... (I guess Mr Pratchett had too much input).

Nice production values tho - very swish!

I differ in opinion....I thought Susan, Death, and Albert have been the best so far. David warner and Tony robinson were well cast but you were never going to see much of them, but the guy playing Teatime is shite....utterly, utterly shite. Which is a shame, cos a good Teatime would have made for a better show. I can only comment on the first part, haven;t had time to watch the 2nd yet.
Like others have said, if you don't already know the story....you're going to be very confused and probabaly not bother watching it. I know its seasonal which is probably why they picked thisone, but they would have been better off starting with Guards! Guards! or maybe Carpe Jugulum in my opinion....much easier to follow, and less business with the imaginary worlds and stuff.








Oh, and it WAS Visit and Nobbs...Carrot wasn't in the 1st episode.

Its not bad....but doesn't capture the escence of the book somehow....but I guess thats quite a hard thing to do for this type of book.

I'm enjoying it but wanted more...

Teatime could be a lot better as well I think...

Not read the book (but read some of the others). Really enjoyed it.

I suppose if you've read the book there's a lot more potential to be disappointed - but if you come into it clean you've no preconceptions.

Watched it last night with 5 other people who said the same - some had read it and some not and the ones that read it still liked it...

I thought it was good festive viewing (should have aired first this weekend). I read the book a while ago, so I'd forgotten enough to make it relatively new. TeaTime was a just a little too close to Willy Wonka to start with, although I'd got used to it by the second episode.
I would certainly watch other books if the same people were to do them, so they did a good job.
