Bah. :( It should still be good, unless they somehow manage to fuck it up majorly, but a shame P.J isn't working on it after his time and effort made the the ring trilogy so bloody brilliant.

or M Night Shalalalalalalalala! Smeagol is a pixie representing our desires! ***** is a fat guy with a heart of gold, wrestling with a domineering father! The Shire is acutally a perfect village in the woods controlled by a council of elders!

Anyone know what the monetary dispute Jackson had with New Line Cinema was about in more detail? He wanted a bigger cut of the cake than originally agreed on? Or did they somehow cheat him of money due to some technicality etc?

Its not a flame, they are poor movies.
How hard is it make a great movie with his budget and cast? yet he failed miserably.

I don't know if "failed" is the correct term, seeing as they were so fucking popular. That said, I think they're MASSIVELY overrated.

First one was poor, not what I expected but it was true to the book.
Second was better, much better.
Third was fantastic apart from the overly long ending and the gay hobbit bit at the end, that was so gay and Clerks 2 summed it up perfectly :D

I do have to say that they are overrated.

I actually fell asleep through the third one. I don't quite recall at what point, but it was before the boring end bit.

I bought the extended dvd of it, and I have to say really enjoyed it although it was still too long and gay, not sure why I bought the extended version then complained about how long it is, maybe I'm gay :(

They better make The Hobbit a great film though, it is my second all time favourite book.

Ah yes... "the last alliance of elfs and men!!11" that Jackson came up with on his own and fucked over Tolkiens universe royally is a highpoint of that movie, as is Legolas shieldsurfing down the stairs while machinegunning down orcs. Oh and lets not forget the cheap gags like "shall i fetch you a box" or "noone tosses a dwarf!/toss me!" etc. Or the butchering of Faramirs character - seriously i can go on all day.

Good thing you havent read the books i guess (which i surmize you havent) since then you would know there is quite a bit of "gayness" going on between the hobbits, which ofc wouldnt sit well with todays homophobic movie audience and thus has been toned down alot.

And by the gods... if i never have to see the scene with Legolas on that fucking elephant again it will be too soon.

Obviously not that good, He kept true to the book as best he could, and he potrayed the stories in a great fashion.

I bet you wanted a bar scene with two 40 somethings mud wrestling naked in it. The profit from the movie says it all really, tell me when you make your directing debut I would really be interested in Bob does John real fucking hard.... Mincer.

Lol while I hated the hollywood parts of the movie, overall it gave me a picture that wasnt a million miles off my own imagination. Yes I detest that stair surfing and elephant bollocks. But aside from that the landscaping and battles just did it for me.

guess the amount of money it made and still makes has nothing to do with it? maybe you would have preferred an art house adaptation?

anyway, read somewhere about a prequel to LOTR set after the hobbit, correct me if i am wrong but does this even exist in book form?
