Saw it yesterday - it was ok. The scares seemed a bit cheap to me. The type that make you jump more than the type that makes you think omgwtfbbq :\

That said, as far as horror films go it was pretty good. I hear the original is far better though.

I haven't seen the remake, got both the original grudge movies downstairs though.

The bits with the spider walk down the stairs gives me the chills every time *shudders*

On a related note, if anyone can tell me where i can find copies of Juon: The Curse and Curse 2 it'd be much appreciated :) (anywhere but yesasia preferably)

I saw the original and thought it was great, then my friend came into work saying he'd seen the american one and that it was pretty poo. I kept asking him how they did certain bits and apparently quite a lot has changed.

Saw it and tbh i wasnt impressed ... cheap scares at the expense of character and plot.

I thought this was fantastic. The original is pretty damn good too. The remake is quie a similar film but it's quite obvious the director had more money to spend on his own remake than the first time around.

I've got both Juon and Juon 2 on DVD but I can't remember where I got them from, sorry fuzzy but it may well have been yesaisia.

The remake is good for different reasons. The kid in it is actually the same actor from the original Juon's which is quite cool.

There isn't any character development in either the first nor the remake. The idea of the film doesn't really lend well to character development. To be honest the remake made more sense than the original cos, and I hope some people agree with me here, I find Japanese people really hard to tell apart, so the original had a bunch of people with similar sounding strange names and since the film jumps about i the time line, I couldn't tell who was who and who'd done what.

There were some genuinely frightening moments in both versions.

Anyway, if you like jap horror, go get The Eye. It's fantastic.

hehe.

I think they did the creepy noise much better in the original although you could hear they'd tried to surround-sound it up a bit for the remake.

The Eye was fantastic. Not got round to seeing this as I'm not a gellar fan. Seen some mixed reviews too although the gf is dragging me this week so I have no choice now.

Thought it was pretty dumb, just tries to make you jump all the time, whereas the Ring did leave me party scared afterwards...and the ending was just such a fucking imitation :\ I have seen a lot worse horror movies though...
