That TV show that was just on with Clarkson was like, woah!

Didnt know commandos were that elite, kinda puts it all in prospective with regards to how the UK is now.

600 blokes knew they were gonna die and they were given the chance to back out. And not one did.

Just wondering, how many people in the UK would do that now?

During the delay, senior German officers had arrived to inspect the damage. They were accompanied to the dock by two commando officers who had been taken prisoner. They knew what was about to happen, but remained silent, and died in the massive ensuing explosion

I just watched that as well, absolutely incredible. One supped up fishing boat taking on a german destroyer; the main gunman gets shot 16 times before he finally passes out and dies but only after the destroyer was...well...destroyed

Absolutely fantastic story although I think the memorial does them no justice whatsoever for what was accomplished.

The blokes that were on that show seemed to be proud but it was just part of thier job. Who knows

Watched it last week when it was. It was an amazine insight into things which dont really get mentioned. Thing is, shouldnt really be suprised about the commandos doing so well. Uk had the best back then, and in our special services we still have the worlds best.

They all were heroes and as long as the armed forces has people half as brave as that then you can feel safe if it comes to another war on our coast.

I was amased that so few people know about the raid, it was one of the British army's greatest successes in WW2, yet no one seems to know, or really care about it. And tbh, I think that those who died deserve a much bigger memorial.
