Incidentally, I've often thought that Rodin's "great art" can include pretty or mundane subjects. Surely some of his sweet early work is just as "great" as his more monumental later work. The marble Diane from 1875 and the Madame Fenaille from 1898 in terra cotta illustrate this well. In his final years many of his portraits seemed to have been created for money rather than passion.
