Owning a galaxy cert can be a boon and a curse.
One of the things I hate about these things is that you can barely park them anywhere.
Why oh why don't they have some sort of toggleable (new word) HUD grid that enables you to see where you can park legally?

I'm fed up with slamming into "nothing" when landing, fed up with sliding down a slope killing half a dozen friendlies and ending up wrapped around a tree and utterly pissed off with squad members saying "Land so I can get on" when I bloody can't land within 500 meters of them, then they have a go at me (these aren't my outfit mates I hasten to add, they've got half a brain at least).
Just yesterday I was having difficult explaining to a squad member that to get an ant in the back he would have to drive it into the back. So he promptly got in the gunners position. I kicked him out, he got back in.
Why couldn't he do it? (his explanation was because I couldn't "Stop being a TIT") The real reason was because he couldn't get an ant to the gal. I have no idea why, I'd just spent 3 minutes finding somewhere to land so he could.
I logged in disgust, not just because of the pain of landing a gal, but because some fool called me a tit unjustly.

Have any off you found a solution to the galaxys big arse landing issue? Or have any of you had similar experiences?

Problem I find with being a Gal pilot is you spend 90% of your time in the gal and not actually out shooting people. I dont mind it so much, its what Gal pilots do, can be fun in a good squad.

Its when people just stand around and dont get in, then moan cause you left them behind that pisses me off.

Landing is a bitch but 2 things might help. 1) if you own the dropship centre do a manual bind there. You should then be able to despawn straight there when you need a new ship (no use if the base is lost of course). 2) you dont actually have to land to pick up troops I discovered, my squad mate can hover just low enough for us to board. No good for Ants of course but it might help.

Yeah, gets a bit boring hanging around waiting to be reaver fodder while the others are on the ground, but it's great fun when the guys need dropping from tower to tower, base to base, when you can really feel like you are helping.

Hovering close to the ground and dabbing the 'C' key (default setting) does allow passengers on. I love fast landings to grab people... max altitude then dive on the WP with afterburners on, then back pedal at the last moment, flare and land... gets scary sometimes :)

ANT issue? I had trouble getting an ANT into a GAL the other day as the Gal was on an uphill slope, and with the added angle of the ramp on it was simply too steep for the poor ANT's 1 cc motor :D

Before people moan at the pilots or drivers they should respec and try flying/driving themselves for a few days. Some people have a capacity for large amounts of rudeness with a minimum amount of knowledge -- worst thing about any support character/spec is supporting muppets.

Yep, look out for the Vanu anti-vehicle specialist/sunderer driver -- who if he isn't blowing up the enemies vehicles, is crashing his own ;)

Im a gal pilot and it is the trickiest thing ever to land those things. They should make a certain place in the bases to land 2 gals or make the land a bit flatter outside the base to land.

Luckily most of my outfit have used a gal so they understand when i say i cant land there and have to move on a bit.

So the reavers dont have to fly about and look for where the gals are parked? :)

Wont make a difference anyway. You dont have to look really hard for a Galaxy do you :) .

A Galaxy doesnt last very long nowadays anyway. Thats why i have a sunderer as a backup troop carrier. Gal's seem to be Reaver magnets. When parked at a base i make sure i get out of my Gal if there are reavers floating around. Destroying my Gal doesnt make the slightest bit of difference. ;)
