I know the one you're talking about (those ones have only come out in the last couple of hours) - the "early" ones I'm talking about clearly show the upper bodywork in tact.

Those shots are later though, they show Sutils car on the transporter which didn't happen until after Bianchi was removed.

My guess, the engine cover was left behind as the car went under the tractor. It's then been picked up and loosely laid on top .

Video is now floating around of the accident itself.

Assumptions/fears on what must have happened would appear to be correct, although Bianchi was travelling significantly quicker at the time of impact than I'd expected.

Amazed hes alive

There's actual video of the crash up on Vine, showing very clearly the accident and impact.

He didn't come to a halt from the impact with the vehicle which is good news, it would've been massively higher G and probably fatal if so.
He definitely had a major impact though and it was still a very nasty accident.
Hope he recovers fully.

I don't really have an objection to uploading it here, I mean the news and social media were actively sharing the US crash a little while back where someone was run over, but at the same time I understand a lot of people don't want to see the accident.

The video isn't particularly graphic, but I understand a lot of people won't want to see it.

It's on the spoiler tag below, FOM have been actively sending takedowns so it'll probably be gone soon enough.

I honestly don't know how he's still alive. It looks like he hit the tapered bit right at the back of the digger which pushed his head down into the cockpit. Modern helmet design is just incredible.

GFY link (which can be slowed down if you so choose):

How is he alive?

If he'd hit the vehicle and come to a standing stop he would be dead.

The fact that it hit the topside of the car and retarded it more slowly rather than hitting his head and coming to a full stop probably saved him ( for now ).

He is lucky so far but I would of thought with waved yellows he should of been going slower.

The fact that the 'tractor' actually lifts up indicates how much force there was in the impact. The fact the car went straight through not only means he wasn't hit with massive G force, but also that the car 'glanced' the vehicle. That in itself is a lucky escape, but there is still scope for very very serious injury. I really hope he recovers, but I think it would be somewhat of a miracle :(

MEDIA INFORMATION │ 7 October 2014
A Statement from the family of Jules Bianchi

Yokkaichi, Japan
7 October 2014, 23.00hrs local/15.00hrs BST

The following statement is provided by the family of Jules Bianchi, in conjunction with the Mie General Medical Center, and is distributed on their behalf by the Marussia F1 Team.

“This is a very difficult time for our family, but the messages of support and affection for Jules from all over the world have been a source of great comfort to us. We would like to express our sincere appreciation.

Jules remains in the Intensive Care Unit of the Mie General Medical Center in Yokkaichi. He has suffered a diffuse axonal injury and is in a critical but stable condition. The medical professionals at the hospital are providing the very best treatment and care and we are grateful for everything they have done for Jules since his accident.

We are also grateful for the presence of Professor Gerard Saillant, President of the FIA Medical Commission, and Professor Alessandro Frati, Neurosurgeon of the University of Rome La Sapienza, who has travelled to Japan at the request of Scuderia Ferrari. They arrived at the hospital today and met with the medical personnel responsible for Jules’ treatment, in order to be fully informed of his clinical status so that they are able to advise the family. Professors Saillant and Frati acknowledge the excellent care being provided by the Mie General Medical Center and would like to thank their Japanese colleagues.

The hospital will continue to monitor and treat Jules and further medical updates will be provided when appropriate.”

Seen the vid by mistake due to shitty facebook auto play bollocks, not very nice at all, the whole JCB moves (a lot!) so you can clearly see the impact was a mental speed, completely ruins the car.

I heard on the radio that they have Schumacher's doc working on him. Hope he pulls through but I very much doubt he will race again.

I'm not into keeping people alive at all costs especially as it looks to've nearly taken his head off

that wasnt the issue, there sounds like there very little external injuries to him.. the problem is the fact that the impact caused his brain to move inside the skull thus would have detatched some the tissue. Main issue would be getting the swelling and pressure down and keeping it down. If that happens, and there wasnt to much tissue damage then he actually be in a pretty good position.
Probably wouldnt race again, but he can hopefully have a normal life.

Really is nice to see all of F1 rally around him, ferrari flew a neurosurgeon in to work on him, and the FIA sent the professor who came up with schumachers treatment plan. so top doctors theer fir him

That onboard with Hamilton was soooo calm. Lifting off well early and still putting fastest laps in. He usually uses the least fuel anyway but he should be whole litres in the lead today.

Begrudging admiration for Rosberg for a superb drive on those tyres but I wish Lewis had pulled out a bigger Championship lead, that double points last race at Abu Dhabi is going to decide it, one way or the other.

Yeah I just hope the double points nonsense doesn't ruin this year.
Not the most exciting race of the year, but a solid flag to flag win for Lewis.

hamilton only needs to win next race, then even with double pts he can come second in thelast 2 and still win.
Just hope there no mechanical issues for him for rest of season

Yes, but at nine wins to four he could still lose the whole thing if he has a bit of unreliability or is punted off by Rosberg (again) in the last race, which would be a travesty.

I didn't realise Lewis had won so many more races until Brundle mentioned it. That DNF in Australia really put him on the back foot.

Here's hoping that Lewis can build up a bigger gap in Austin and Sau Paulo so there's less chance of the wanky double points being a deciding factor. If he wins those 2 then he will be a minimum of 34 points in front which means he can finish 6th in Abu Dhabi (with Rosberg winning) and still win the championship. I think. Or maybe 5th.

If Lewis wins both remaining races, and say Nico had a 2nd and a then a DNF then Lewis would be 49 points ahead. Imagine if Nico then did a Spa at the last race! Unlikely, but not that far out there.

Double points is a completely ridiculous idea. In only 3 seasons in the last 20 years would it have made a difference, but what doesn't seem to have been mentioned is that in each of those three cases the championship was decided in the last race anyway, so the excitement and interest were already there. The corrupt dwarf really needs to go.

Ok my maths was terrible. If Lewis wins in America and Brazil he will be at least 31 point ahead, not 34, so he would need to finish at least 5th in the final race to clinch it assuming Rosberg came second in the next two races and won in Abu Dhabi (of course this assumes no DNFs).

So if Lewis wins the next two and finishes at least 5th in Abu Dhabi then it doesn't matter what Nico does.

Lewis still has one more DNF than Nico but I get the feeling he is due some kind of failure soon, plus you've got a lot of older engines going around now.
