The dragon ate us all!!

[Bedroc the Hero]

The dragon raid ended in our death. We got it to about 5% ( perhaps 7 or so ). We did some things right and a few things we need to improve. I will gladly accept any feedback so I can improve the guide. I will do another run next year and anyone is free to use my documentation as well for their own raids.

I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR COMING! You where very patient ( well most of you ) and took all my yelling and bickering. You made all this happen! And im so pleased so many choose to come to the raid. I had a great time! looking forward to next time, and hope you had fun to!


I want to extend special thank you to the following.

* Censimilia, for running to ranger groups, pulling the dragon and getting information on what hurts him the most.
* Drizza, for running the ranger chat group. Lots of work. thank you.
* Tinbeard for running the DF chat group.. he had LOTS of invites and lots of questions. Uber work. thank you!
* Greldar for running the AC chat group and making the ac teams happen. thank you! i know it was a lot of work.

If you have any advice on what we can do better next time ( preferably if you have ideas on how ) please post em here.

I have one confession to make.. something i can do a lil better.. Next time I should really try NOT to disband from the command group and thus sever all communication when we charge the dragon... Was a terrible misstake.. and took some time to correct. I blame stupidity, lag and a slow computer along with fumblefingers

If you come with me again I wont do that misstake ( Ill try to find all new ones. )

Very good job Bedroc, really appreciate that you do these kind of stuff for us hibbies

Shame that the dragon aoe stun is bugged, think this is what killed us mainly.

Btw i emptied a mana bar on him, resisted everything, so i stick and meleed rest of fight for about 7dmg/hit.

Next patch at least the aoe stun will get fixed.

I actually whacked the blighter for a wee bit of dmg after i gave up trying to debuff him lol

Loads of fun but aye the aoe stun is a pain i was chain stunned for bout 15-20 mins while everyone died, without that we would have won.

Sorry Aironima that your group got left behind on the way in, was very good of you to reform at innis and come back in.

Looking back on it I think we should have made it clearer to get every one into the lair, we pulled to many adds from o/s though it was the final swarm from the dragon being close to dieing that killed us. So I think we did do very well.

Thank you bedroc for doing so much organising, i know you have been working hard on this for the last few weeks. We can only learn from this and hopefully we will get him next time.

All the Druids, Bards and Wardens who came on the Dragon Raid tonight. You guys are the best of the best, you all did an outstanding job! A big thank you goes to Learendil too, could not have done it without you.

The Res CG was not run so well by me, sorry. This was my first big raid leading a Chat Group, thanks for bearing with me.

We got the Dragon down to 5%!!

A huge hug and cheer to all who turned up to make this a night to remember, was great fun and an experience not to be forgotten

A huge huge huge hug and cheer must goto Bedroc! Without all his effort and planning this raid would not of taken place.

WELL DONE BEDROC!! Next time we kill the Dragon...... TWICE!!

I was in cutcrimson's AC group camping the west entrance of the liar at loc 54, 56
Because this west entrance is just too close to a spawnpoint, we could not manage to control them - even with 3-4 groups.

For next time I suggest we either stay away from that entrance or we camp it with 5+ AC groups.

Another thing i noted: we got told to stand inside the liar to be further away of the spawn. I tried that 4 times and each time i was death immediatelly. It seems the dragon hates wardens.

It was good fun, we had some more experience on the Dragon today, and next time we'll gank him.

Yeah Joske,

Was hard spot to hold and i think we were probably a bit to spread out between the various entrances.

Perhaps if the raid is done again we should use just the north and south entrances and not camp the west entrance.
Would like to hear from other groups what the adds were like on the south and north entrances as we were just swamped on the west area.

1 important things observed by the ranger grp (and we are sure this is a fact)

We were hitting the dragon harder for more damage and more often from behind..

at the start I was shooting it with my grp from its left flank, I was missing lots but hitting it for 20-24 with +4-5 from damage add....

When I was shooting it from behind I was hitting a lot more frequently and for higher damage (30-34 +4-5)..... (and thats with a short bow using thrust arrows)

We quickly learned to more position as soon as it faced us...
It always faces whatever is giving it most aggro, there was one point when my grped was all bunched up chaining arrows at it and it was facing us... then the aoe came...

The AOE seems to be on a timer... Im pretty sure of that...

Like when I 1st went to pull it, I knew it would AOE... but second time I went to pull it, it didnt AOE it charged at hit me...

We know a few things to do next time... when we start a dragon raid we send in 1 person to trigger the AOE and die... then you charge in a grp of about 25 tanks to circle it (and circle it in a big circle u can melee it from a real long distance away, the bigger the melee circle the less get caught in aoe.), and move your ranger grp behind it and let rip... its important the tanks hold the aggro so it doesnt turn and aoe nuke all the rangers behind it....

For the CC grps: If that dragon is ever facing you move, cuz if it AOE when its facing you , your dead.... Which ever tank has the aggro has to literally steer the dragon to make it face a spot where no one will get nuked.....

I think you can maintain the 25 tanks and ranger grps to take it to 10%, Then I would just suggest zergging in a 2nd pool of tanks and try and take the bitch down as fast as possible...

The damage from BOW is awesome, I would also really suggest all Heros and BMS use bows and circle it, and only champs and mages tank it... (may sound wierd but I am pretty certain a tank using bow will do more damage than a tank whacking it)
I think forming a full circle of heros, BMS, and rangers with bows all around it might be the final key to dropping it)


We learnt a lot from this raid, and it was great fun...

Sounds like you've been doing some really nice groundwork on this Bedroc, we as a realm thank you for this.

With my arcanite guarded rapier( capped at 16.2 dps) I did about 2-4 damage to the dragon. With my 9.6(?) dps shortbow I hit for 4-7 with the blunt FFB's ( small minus tho).
This similarity may have been caused by being rez sick while meleeing.

Did get to evade the dragon also, shame I don't have diamondback on my qbars.

Anyone know an easy way form north of the east knights to the dragon? I got ported to about 55k 33k and I don't know a way to the dragon from there without the need for heals.

It was an good attempt, even if it started out with confussion whether to charge or not.

As been said, west entrance got killed because of spawn point close by, when the big adds came everyone was rezz sick or allready dead. The dragon aoe was also a big pain in the .... think i got killed by it 8 or 9 times...

Great fun tho, count me in for next time raids.........TOTAL CHAOS, gotta love it

Thank you very much all of you! Ill try doing this again next year. Need to tweak the strategy a bit in some places. We got more AoE then I expected for one. And need to be clearer on instructions in some instances ( me not disbanding at the wrong moment will help as well! )

I had great fun mate, thanks for organizing it, need any help with anyone just shout.

Some clasically funny moments, everytiem gabriel came to rez me he would be aoe stuned and nuked, rest to get poewer, go to rez me and get nuked again. This happened 3 times and was a classic.

I then noticed tyka seemed to be the only hibbie left, dragon just looked at him and blasted.. dead.. right on top of me.. excelent..

again plz again!

I wasn't there, but I have one thing to add, not so much about the dragon raid, but about Hibernia as a realm.

When Albs kill the dragon the come on BW and a few thank you's are handed out, but mostly whining about stupid things, even tho they DID kill it.
When Albs fail to kill the dragon they come on BW and whine and bitch for weeks it seems.

I just want to say that Hibernia rocks! You guys failed to take him down, and STILL you are thanking people and trying to figure out how you can get the final 5-7% next time.

This is the reason I play Hib, it's all of you that do it for me.

Thx for the run Bedroc , tho i have to flame some of the people that was with us.
First i have to say that ppl HAVE TO BE PATIENT!, can it really be that hard to wait till Censi had pulled him ? i know it took long, but its a Dragon FFS!
Second i have to flame Leek for being the most impatient of all.. he started to yell "Charge" after a 3 or 4 trys from Censi.

When we where about to charge I did mess up. I disbanded from my command group and could not forward the charge commande to all units. I did forward it to the Dragon Fight teams as I was in their chat group. We where supposed to charge after 4th attempt.

I dont know if Leek yelled before my cmd, or after it. But we where supposed to charge at that time.

Im very sorry about this and wont do it next time

Even your honored ( hehe ) raid leader got a bit excited in the face of the dragon

I think ur right, at a time i started to use bow. Don't really know why, i just did. And the dmg was 4-5 times higher =
