I've been watching the ashes of an evening and i've come to one undeniable conclusion...

Your camera men = poo.

Seriously they either can't find the ball or they're zoomed in so tight on it that you can't see anything... I mean really it's not that hard...

I would assume they would be used to filming soccer matches where the gound is half the size and the ball is about 10 times as large, but i mean really is it that difficult? Our camera men here do a great job...

Also on of the staples of a cricket broadcast here is the camera men giving the folks at home a chance to oggle the hotties at the match (which is very important i might add) between balls whilst nothing is happening. Alas nothing... on the ocasion the camera does zoom in on a female in the crowd in every instance she has been far from attractive... whats going on???
I know you have hotties over there as I've met a few... so are these camera men queer or do they just have horridly bad taste? :twak:

Can someone shed some light on this mystery of the appaling cameramen for me?

Also props to you guys for how well you've done this series. You've been the better team through out this series, though i do hope we come back in this last test and keep the ashes :D. Good luck though.

According to the convicts interviewed by the bbc the other day, the convicts will win the final test because Andrew Johns is currently over here playing rugby for warrington. How that quite works I have no idea.

Only half true. The Scots play it, but the Italians don't.

The Scots do NOT play cricket. They have a team, but most of them are English (apart from Andy Goram). In fact I think you'll find Cricket is the most hated sport in Scotland, which kinda pisses on "yam" little theory.

Bodhi in 'full of shit' shocker, makes a change!

That doesn't prove fuck all. It's like saying Londoners all eat haggis cos you've found a London Haggis Appreciation website. If the Scots do in fact play cricket answer me these questions......

1) Why was the Scotland Australia match played earlier in the season the first EVER live televised cricket match to air in Scotland? Surely, if the Scots loved cricket as you are insinuating, we would have had a live match on long before that no?

2) Why didn't I play it in school?

3) Why don't I know a single Scot who likes cricket (and trust me I know a few, having lived there for 10+ years and all)?

4) Why is cricket generally referred to north of the border as "that boring shite England play"?

5) Why don't you have a clue?

Although to be honest you haven't disproved a word I've said. All you've proved is Scotland have a cricket team, which I told you. Yam better keep headbutting that wall there mate, you might knock some sense into yamself!

Funny that, according to those websites and others I googled there are plenty of scots that play cricket. You could also argue that scotland dont play football seeing as they are so bad at it.

So you haven't seen us play recently then?

Actually you're gonna have to remind me, who won on Wednesday night again? Cos I don't think it was England.......

Some? I'd say a few, probably on a par with the number of English people who go Curling. Few enough to say the Scots don't DO cricket (I'm talking about the majority here, minorities can suck my fat one tbh).

"Cricket has a lower profile in Scotland than it has south of the border in England. Scotland is not one of the ten leading cricketing nations which play test matches, nor does the Scottish national team play full one-day internationals except when it reaches the quadrennial Cricket World Cup through the qualifying competition for minor cricketing countries. Nonetheless, Scotland has a well established recreational cricket structure"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_cricket

You don't seem to know much about your own country McBodhi. I work with an English woman who is married to a born and bred Scot who *loves* cricket and has been involved in every level of the game in Scotland.

Your lack of knowledge about your own countries sporting habits, combined with your support of the Italian local and national teams suggests strongly to me that you are deeply ashamed of your Scottish heritage. Or a complete pillock. Take your pick ;)

The thing is tho, your logic sucks. You know 1 Scotsman, who loves cricket. I know about 150, 148 of whom hate the game, the other 2 think it's alright. All I'm saying is I've lived on the East Coast of Scotland for most of my life, yam lived in the middle of England most of your life. Who do you think is honestly going to know more about wha the Scots think of cricket? Please, be serious now.

I'm very proud of my Scottish heritage, and exceptionally proud of the fact we don't like cricket. But then if you can find any more interesting websites which disprove my first hand experience go for it. Feel free to keep being a fucktard and resort to personal attacks too if you want. It's been nice making you look ridiculous.

Now pipe down.

Scottish here, originally from Aberdeen, where at least two schools played. Working on a rig with several Scots in the straw poll 4 out of 7 said they enjoyed cricket, one was named after Sir Len Hutton and ones proudest moment was when he played for Freuchie as they won the village cup at Lords.
Not entirely conclusive, but on a par with what I found living in Aberdeen for 22 years before moving south, lots of Scots like cricket, quite a few play, especially in Fife and the borders. I can only assume your 150 people were not entirely representative, Bhodi, any way have a nice day and enjoy the cricket :p

Back on the Cricket.. I don't find the Cameramen to be that bad. I usually watch the cricket whilst doing things on the PC so I don't always look at it inbetween balls.

I only wish they'd show more Cricket on TV here to give the game more publicity and get more interested in it as it is a fun game. Problem is stupid Sky have bought all the rights to 1day stuff that most of the country hardly get's to see any games.

Ever heard of the exception rather than the rule? This is what we have in this case.

You may have a point. 'cept, thankfully, its the drink/drug sozzled that are in the minority. Perhaps if you mixed with a more mature and healthier bunch of Scots you would find more cricketers amongst them. But then - what would you have in common with them?

i missed most the one day series unfortunately

only been getting the channel 4 telecast of the ashes

we've started getting more and more cricket on tellie here

normall we'd only get the one dayers and test over summer but the last few yearts they've srarted telecasting more and more matches from overseas which has been quite good

and quite a bit on free to air tv too rather than cable

The Scots play cricket, they're just not very good at it.
They also play football, they're not very good at that either.

It's not worth arguing with Bodhi tbh as in 90% of the things he gets involved in he has no clue but just argues because he likes to wind people up. Swift and many other FH regulars will always come to back him up as they also have no clue and have an admirable (if utterly moronic) camaraderie.

He doesn't like cricket so really had no reason to post in a cricket thread. Best just to ignore.

Yes, I have no clue about what the Scots like and don't like do I? Clearly not as much all those English people trying to make me look ridiculous. Good job they're as good as that as they are at football eh?

Anyway the Scots are still not a cricketing nation, and no-one's proved they are yet. In fact it would probably be easier to prove they're a nation of snowboarders, cos like a few do it up in the Cairngorms, therefore they all do it!

people havent tried to prove scotland are a cricketing nation. You said no one in scotland plays cricket. This was easily proved to be incorrect. By your reckoning if a country isnt good at it, it doesnt play it so this would mean scotland play no sports aye?

Carry on with what u do best, talking out of your arse

No. My reckoning was compared to football, rugby, golf etc, no-one in Scotland plays cricket, which is correct. Just cos you've managed to find some cricketers in some remote part of Scotland doesn't really count for much. Remember these are the remote parts of Scotland where molesting sheep is also a popular passtime. I really wouldn't use folks from those parts tho prove any theories bout what the Scots do.

Anyway, the Scots don't play cricket, there is no interest in the god-awful boring ass game north of the border. The End.

Actually at work there's a girl who spends most of her time on some godawful dating sort of website called Faceparty or something who received a message from a Scot who sent her his pic.

She didn't believe he was Scottish, saying "Aren't all Scottish people ginger?". Gotta love Essex girls..

Cricket is crap except when the ashes are on and we're winning (like now). Much like tennis is crap except when it's Wimbledon, oh and now the English are relying on the success of a Scot (although in the tabloids he's British when doing well, Scottish when he loses you will notice).

I still think Bodhi just argues for arguments sake and too many people take the bait. I just disagree with most of his choices of great music so take my place arguing against him.

Next week I'm going up to Scotland to watch a cricket match.
