Well aware of what he is, the hypocracy is overwhelming but the press are blinded by thier desire to see Liverpool succeed.

haha :m00: quality /awaits keitan's reply. Although he'll never come into a thread with evidence that is quite blatantly against a liverpool player.

lol no worse than anyone else tbh, still dives a hell of alot less then the like of drogba an ronaldo, which is why when he does dive, an its clear he does, he wins pens, cos he doesnt have that rep like ron an drog who go down 6-7 times a game

To be fair Ronaldo is actually pretty clean these days since the rooney incident i think he's had to pretty much turn over a new leaf.

Other than the odd sly leg he leaves out to 'trip' over defenders ;)

It's not so much a dig at Gerrard as a dig at the entire state of football at the moment.

Everyone does it, and everyone only complains when it's people on the opposing teams that do it. It's one of the reasons that I don't follow football anywhere near as closely these days.

What I do wonder is when most of those quotes were made in relation to when the incidents happened. These days you have to dive since you know the opposition are going to do exactly the same thing. Diving should earn you a yellow card, although since the ref's very rarely give them and nothing is done after the match about blatent diving it's not going to change anytime soon. Maybe if the ref's grew a pair of balls we'd see some of this stupidity cut out.

They are all it it, makes me sick but what can you do? Till FIFA start allowing video evidence to be used after matches to punish diving nothing will happen. All this 'if the referee didn't see it then it didn't happen' bullshit is becoming old very fast.

Exactly this may be introduced to scottish football. The SFA finally been given permission to run their trial on it. Though they can not give out punishment, they will be watching the incidents after the matches and taking records of when and what they would do. From this UEFA will decide if they will actually be able to introduce it for real. Could set a nice precedent.

The worst rule is the ref saw it but did not care so we can't do anything, a player could get drop kicked in the face as long as the ref did not send the drop kicker off the FA will do nothing they are pathetic. They need to dish out yellows for dives and waving fake yellows. Even for players surrounding the ref. Hate the way Arsenal players seem to do it more now. Book them to sort them out.

The hardest thing to sort out would be if the ref misses a dive that lets a team score and win what happens do they deduct the points as well??

Liverpool fan here, TBH yeah he should probably drop the saintly paper talk, dosnt change the fact that with so much riding on games players will always dive, some simply to cheat others to highlight the fact there was contact made if they stay up chances are the ref wont give anything even though by the letter of the law they should have gotten something.

Its beyond me why we dont already have replays etc available to ref's would help stamp out things like diving, intimidating the ref and incorect decisions

They used have replays on screen in the stadiums a while back but i think they banned them as they were creating a lot of aggro from the fans watching the damn things.

They should have a system that allows a person monitoring the game, from the sidelines, seeing all the angles and then beaming the details of infractions to the ref so that when the game comes to a stop he can dish out the cards /punishments etc. Cant be that hard and i am pretty sure that once it was brought in the players would stop all the play acting shit.

Arsenal still show the replays of action but you are correct they were banned from showing contentious issues, can't have the ref proved wrong from 5 angles :)

It doesnt show very well on the video, but that Bolton one was worse than anything the likes of Ronaldo, Drogba et al have done.

thye should introduce the sin bin like in rugby, people would be a hell of alot more afraid of a yellow card (and less likely to hurt someone because they are pissed) if they are taken off the pitch for a few mins and gives the ref more scope for punishing minor offences
I also think it would rock if they had play on when someone is injured, player is taken to a side and treated as the game goes on (unless its a major injury), that would stop the whining madonna's from rolling around on the floor for 10 mins

They are all it it, makes me sick but what can you do? Till FIFA start allowing video evidence to be used after matches to punish diving nothing will happen. All this 'if the referee didn't see it then it didn't happen' bullshit is becoming old very fast.
qft, cant rep you tho as you have too many :(
Personally i think there should be a video ref anyway during the game

No you punish the player and not the team. Hit the player hard enough and often enough and they will stop.

I'm not a liverpool fan, I'm also not really a follower of football anymore. I am, however, generally more impressed by Gerrard in the international games I've seen than I am with alot of the other players on the team.

That video is bad, and there is no excuse for it, not even "everyone else is doing it" - no 'buts'. I dont think he does a bad job on the international side of things though.

Like Cho said, they need video refs like in rugby, would make the game far better and would go a long way towards stopping the dive culture and referee incompetence that seems to be plaguing the game from what little I see of it these days.
