well he did say every little planet / society was a different player... so probably will be developed to an MMO at some point (maybe a single player till you control your own planet?)

no it's a single player game but you can update your planet to the games of other people around the world.. or atleast he said something like that

Was kind of funny when the guys just flew away from their base when they got the planes

Old concept as there already was such a game (less detailed ofc) on the SNES called Evolutions or something.
Was a very fun game and you could also 'adjust' the speed and attack of your creature.

i dont think its trying to showcase the game so much as the development strategy? ie rather than writing trillions of stuff and developing loads of stuff it lets the game work it out for itself? (or did i pick up that point from somewhere else? )

i think the game would work out great if the UFO wasn't powerful enough to destroy other plantes and the other planes were single player till brought into the MMO

Well you can probably defend yourself against such attacks seeing as at one point that guy is trying to make first contact with that other planet and he gets attacked.
Basically means you need to evolve fast and find a technology to destroy his UFO to set him back alot of money and/or recources.
Also if it was a multiplayer game then surely people would 'team up' and form strong defences and share technology to evolve faster etc.

The game looks very impressive indeed, not sure if i would enjoy it though.

yes in short you are right,
most of the game world doesnt actually exist, it is all generated based on your creatures "evolution" aswell as other people's planets which are downloaded onto your system

no it's a single player game, but the planets of other players will be downloaded to your system like Chronic said, when the planets of other players are downloaded the creatures will develop them selve within the structual line that the player already made for his planet... or atleast something like that

i opened the link and thought wtf is this?? ..............35 mins?? pfft sod that then it evolved the first time and i couldnt stop watching, and when it kept getting bigger and bigger i just thought wow wheres it end? but then its a game it doesnt have to end.

It really does look fantastic and i have to admire someone for thinking so big but with it being single player it doesnt really grab me, the main thing i liked about daoc was i could play and talk to my friends at the same time, however saying that he did say at the end that when you evolve high enough the game changes to a star trek scenario and you get to interact with other planets so im guessing at that point once you've evolved you gain access to a multiplayer situation, if that is the case HooRaa!
