i cant remember the last time i used a pen... a keyboard does work with paper.. all you need is a rather old invention by todays standards... its called a printer and it makes what i write legible to other people, which is an amzing feat if you have ever tried to read my "handwriting" which i have trouble with

I have tried quite a few expensive pens but i find a good old BIC (or similar 20 pence pen) is the best.

I prefer pen (narrow) with a retractable nib.

That way it can also be used to remove obstructions from various orifices.
