Ironic, as most atheists don't like religious people preaching at them

Actually not true. Most atheists are willing to discuss and debate their beliefs.

Secondly I don't think saying "There is probably no god" qualifies are preaching?

But ofc this is the shitcockfuck internet where we can make up whatever we like.

It was done because there's currently a Christian ad campaign running on the side of London buses at the moment (The Alpha Course?) and they wanted balance. Seems fair enough to me.

Oh, and I'm happy to have Christians try to preach at me. I enjoy making them cry.

This reminds me. I was working from home and expecting my PS3 to arrive (it was launch day). At 9.30 the doorbell rang.

JEHOVAS WITNESSES £*)£(*&^(*$£&%)

I looked rather miffed at their appearance

ReligiousNutter> Aww... have we come at bad time?
Lecter> You have NO idea!
ReligiousNutter> Well we have come to talk to you about the most important man in the Universe.
Lecter> If he isn't the Playstation3 delivery guy I'm NOT interested.

Now they looked miffed and I shut the door :)

Difference in discussing and not liking preaching.

By preaching i mean "Believe in godz and youz be saved!".

DaGaffer; Then it seems only fair. Even if i find it a bit ironic still, but fair.

And you can't see a difference between that and "There's probably no God, so stop worrying and enjoy your life"?

Also, I don't think it's fair to bundle all atheists together. For some, atheism means a distinct belief that God does not exist. For others, it's simply a lack of theological beliefs. Everyone is born an atheist so you can't really make generalisations about them.

I try to discuss this kind of thing with religious types, but all I get back is dogma, no constructive argument.

I'm going to enjoy all the howls of religious outrage about this, about time they got some of their own medicine.

You're describing atheists and agnostics. I fall into the category; "higher being who built the universe is extremely fucking unlikely, and Judaic Sky Fairy even more so. And if he did exist, I still wouldn't worship him". I'm whatever that is.

I disagree, which part of what I said was agnosticism?

More of this. Maybe the bus could drive over Kerry Catona while we're on the subject.

Yes i see the difference, no need to get testy :D

Simply said it's ironic considering the usual atheist "pfft god" response i get. Or well, gods...anyway.

person1 "do you believe in god?"

person2 "yes, he will save us all, it is proven, it's real, he watches over me every second of every day and protects me in the face of the devil"

person1 *stab person2 in face*

Surely that proves it beyond a reasonable doubt?

For person 2, yes, as god didn't promise to protect but to offer a final place of eternity in heaven :D

Religious people just forgot to read the f*cking manual.

To which manual are you referring, and how do you know that's the same religion G was talking about? </pedant>.

i think it's a great idea. i've got no problem with your average religious person though...

lol i agree!

there is a distinct difference between athiests and agnostics. athiests dont believe in a higher force and will tend not to enter into a debate about it they are just the flip site of religious zealots who refuse to accept the evidence as it currently is :) they dont want to hear a more faith bound point of view.

agnostics are more open minded, while not actually believing in god they dont dismiss the probability of a higher force in the universe, and will willingly enter into a debate regarding either side of the debate. basically they try to remain on the fence as it were :)

Go go sweeping generalisations. Richard Dawkins, atheist, is more than happy to enter a debate on the subject.

nothing i love more than a debate about religion can be extremely stimulating and make you look at life from a different perspective

I disagree with that, sort of. I'm "agnostic" by your definition but unwilling to entertain a faith-based argument for anything.

I'm only willing to debate with religious zealots from the standpoint of I know for fact I'm right and they're wrong. All organised religions on the planet are, to put it politely, full of shit.

They denounce non-believers as "blasphemers" half the time so I can do it back guilt free and feel good because I know I'm right whereas they only believe it :)

As for the possibility of a "higher power". Being trained as a scientist I'm prepared to entertain this idea as science doesn't (as yet) have all the answers.

However, I wouldn't worship the fucker even if I met it :)

Oh and, if thor came down and threatened to shove a lightning bolt up your arse and damn you to eternal burning in the pits of hel, i think you'd be worshipping the bearded buddy up in the sky :D
