Typical performance!!!!! get a great start then everyone else in the team think victory is assured by merely walking out onto the grass. There is some very good players in the england set up but they are miles away from being a fully functioning unit.

Peterson should be dropped imo...he is a 1 day player and not a test cricketer.

Flintoff should stop bigging himself up in the papers as the best all rounder and actually start playing some cricket...

and the rest of the batsmen should be averaging at least 50-60 runs ffs

lol you what? He averages 4-5 more than anyone else in the England team, with the exception of Prior perhaps, i cba to look it up.

Excellent job by England today, although there was a lot of help from the weather. Can't see the Aussies pulling it back if they have to follow on.

Over 50 is only for lucky No 6s in this day and age. 35-45 can still be a decent bat.

dont understand the hostility towards the england cricket at lords i really dont we played outstanding cricket and ran australia ragged was a fantastic response to the deserved criticism of cardiff

flintoff who is battling injury played fantastic

pieterson is also battling an achilles heel injury and should probably be looked at to been replaced because goin off field every 20 mins suggests a serious problem.

our bowlers were outstanding

our batters struggled but what do you expect against one of the fiercest teams in the world really does make me laugh when people slate em for going out for under 50 yes its not good but when you got people like hilfenhaus and siddle throwing balls at you getting any runs is a bonus.

hopefully this will shut the critics up for a while was an amazing test ive loved every minute of it.

Much as cricket bores the arse off me, beating the Ockers at anything should always be regarded as a good thing, being as they are, the World's Worst Losers™ (actually, they're the World's Worst Winners as well).

A few real stand out performances is what won that test for us. Strauss, Flintoff, Swann, Anderson and Prior, take a bow. Bopara looks out of his depth again, i'd bring Bell back in for the 3rd test, and Harmison in for Onions. Bowling out the Windies tail doesn't mean you qualify to play in a ashes series.

Dagaffer is of course correct, winning at cricket against the Aussies is so much better even if I'm not really bothered, because they just hate it so much :)

Y'see, there you go, proves my point. Not, "well done" full stop. No, it has to be, "first time in 74 years blah blah". You can't help yourselves.

hi2u :p

I'll suck myself off, if Australia don't retain the ashes tbh. Englands batsmen have been a disgrace. It's blatantly clear how important big kev and freddie are.

They're talking about bring Ramps back.

Tbh I think Goochie and Beefy might be worth a shot at this stage. Possibly even try chanting that crap from The Mummy over WG Grace's grave.

Failing that, taping a bat to Viz's Tinribs would be a better number 3 than Bopara.
