I've been massively impressed with our transfers over this window, We've made some quite excellent coups I feel.

Our pre season results have been absolutely dire, but I'm also fine with that. With Moyes at the helm I think we're going to be up there...

Cue 6 months from now being utterly depressed

I only want that because it's Everton. I generally dislike the floppy haired cunt. :)

I like the business we've done, but we're light. With Nunez sold, Diaz sold, Jota dead and Quansah sold (and Joe Gomez being perma crocked), we're light one attacker (at least) and one defender.

Lots of "record spend" (behind chelski) being bandied about but net it's about £100m, on the back of multi year no spends. (And I wondered what Jota was insured for?).

Still. This is where we find out whether Slot is actually any good, or whether he was riding Klopp's coat tails.

The Charity Shield was a poor show, badly managed. Some people are playing it down but it's a trophy that was there to be won. Like the cup.

I'm thinking that because of how good they were last season, people don't realise how your defence needs some reliable second string options. Van Dijk played 37/38 matches in the league last year and Konaté played 30+1/38. Next in line is Joe on 6+3, who as you said, is not going to get any fitter.

At 34 years of age, having a 38 game league (49 total) season can't be sustainable. I don't see any other centreback options?

The Grealish support from me is that I thought he was fun to watch when at Villa. At Man City he came across as a bit scared. I reckon he's one of those that needs to know he's the main man and not a +1.

Isak then. Honestly not painting himself well here. Would Liverpool really want someone like that? Lots of new faces coming into a steady, happy squad.

Couldn't one argue that it's shit of Newcastle to decline the previous offer from Liverpool and that's why he's being a prick?

He is contracted until 2028, Newcastle will want to get the best value for him, that's fair enough, they are up against ffp stuff and need a lot more squad depth.

He shouldn't have signed the contract if he didn't want to honour it, or should have insisted on a release clause.

Clubs get a lot of stick for being a bunch of money machines, but sometimes they need protection from players throwing a wobbler.

Sweet Jesus, Tottenham are fucking awful, 2 nil up and 5 mins later, 2-2 and then some of the best training ground material on "How not to fucking take penalties".

He may well have been told that if he gets a better offer they'll let him go @Raven.

A release clause weakens their hand in negotiations. They'll have said long contract, no release clause, we'll let you go for the right price.

This is just a piece of theater. If they can get someone new in, then he'll go. He won't dis the fans. But careers are short - he wants to be winning the champions league, not just competing in it.

Or scrap it.

Anyway, looks like Liverpool are already fucking up. Slot's subs have been bizarre.

But then, we're still playing against 11 men.

Tell you what though, a single wheelchair-bound asshat gets thrown out for being a cunt and the press reacts as if someone had been shot.

Game stops and 65,000 attendees and millions of viewers are talling about the actions of one wanker, who was ejected at half time. It's all a bit hysterical.

Not hysterical @Embattle?

A guy died in the stands yesterday at Brighton and we didn't pause the game.

Naughty words were allegedly said and people are saying stuff like "I don't know how Ants played on".

The whole stadium then had to listen to a statement read out telling them "don't be racist, you naughty children".

Then every fucking article on the match has a large focus on it. I want to read about the match ffs. The fact that a single cripple's a cunt is only artificially newsworthy.

It's certainly less important a reason to stop a match than a guy dying in the stands. The only reason they do it is to punish us all collectively. That's the mechanism.

But 64,999 people in the ground didn't say a bad word.

PL starts and Chelsea still have exactly the same issue as last year, unable to break down tough defensive setups.

I watched it with my son, christ I thought I swear a lot, not a patch on him and it only happens when they are playing :)

Was it the "one" guy in the end? When I read headlines it made it seem as if it was like the days of 20% of the stadium doing monkey chants.
Yep. Just one guy - that's the fella in the pic.

You'd have thought a baying mob were laying siege by the reaction across the press. But it was just one cunt.

I mean, it does speak volumes about where we are in Britain regarding racism. It's hugely taboo, and rightly so. But it also speaks volumes about the political atmosphere in Britain that we've got here so rapidly and the amount of reaction to said cunt.

At one point the hate speech laws were being considered for anyone who wanted to say trans women were men. If you were in work you could certainly lose your job over it. This is the danger with criminal sanctions for speech. For every (what I consider) "correct" taboo - racism - there's the chance that the outlawed herecy (e.g. saying sex is biological, or simply being gay) lands you in clinky (or maybe even chemically castrated).

Or you could say that it's something that's never happened before and there was a significant delay - a delay that usually would be in the news.

Also perhaps it would be a good chance to be like omg wokery ruining our beautiful game again story.

I think it's more likely it's a combination of it being the first time it's happened and the realisation it was a disabled guy so you can't exactly grab him by the collar and drag him out which has happened lots of times in the past.

But surely you'd agree to a short delay Scouse, because that's the social punishment of humiliation rather than quietly being taken out of the stadium, rather than getting the law involved? (In the event that the law doesn't get involved)

So, @Gwadien:

1) It has happened before. Matches have beeen abandoned.
2) The match was paused. The fan wasn't ejected then. He was ejected at half time, quietly.
3) Everyone else in the stadium then had to listen to a "don't be racist, mmmkay, children" message, even though they'd done nowt wrong.
4) The law has gotten involved. Of course it's gotten involved. Someone reported a crime.

and, importantly:

5) What about the important stuff eh? The stuff I mentioned above that you always swerve, and have no answer for. Yet it keeps on happening, all over different walks of life, for different "reasons", and you see no problem.

Because we don't live under a principle of free speech, our government can arrest 700 people for peaceful protest, but at least we got this one spastic cunt eh? Think of the harm he's capable of!!11!1!

Throw/wheel the fella out, ban him and all that, but there wasn't really a need to stop the game for ~6 minutes

Just an observation on my part, if the cunt is in a wheelchair why even think about grabbing him by the collar when you can simply grab his handles (no not his love handles) and wheel the fucker out.

Just because he is disabled does not give him a free pass.
