What I don't understand is why he wanted to go to a club with ambition as big as PSG's when he could settle for the 8th place title race every season?

It sounds like that what's Newcastle are aiming for tbh. They're determined to keep a small squad so they want to avoid Europe and domestic cups.

That's exactly it, they see Europe (or rather, the Europa League) as a hindrance more than chance for silverware.Just look at our recent cup performances under Pardew, anything past the 3rd FA Cup round is basically an international break for Newcastle fans.

At least Pardew has his excuses lined up for when we lose tonight.
