Chelsea don't exactly need the money and fall within ffp at the moment. In the summer it might make some sense as the money could be used on a striker and a replacement AM brought in, but selling now would mean we have 4 AMs for 3 spots when we're about to start playing 3games a week. Plus, why sell to manutd?

Well, the counter-rumour at the moment is that he's going to go to Atletico instead. I think the player himself wants to go because he needs playing time to get in the Spain squad.

That's what I don't get, our game time is about to increase massively so he is guaranteed more time on the pitch. I do wonder if Mourinho genuinely wants him or not though.

I really don't think Mata will go this season like, it's probably just Maureen stringing some other clubs along.

If he wants Shrek then he will use Mata for that purpose. Man U can't bitch about not selling to a rival when buying from a rival.

BBC saying Utd have officially bid for Mata now. £35m seems too much to turn down for a bit part player imo, wherever he ends up.

Gonna be painful watching Mata help out ManUtd at their weakest while we'll have to use ramires/Moses?/lampard to cover injuries/rotation in the same position.

The idea seems to be that Chelsea have already played United twice this season so they can't be directly hurt by transferring Mata but all of the other top 6 teams have only played United once (except Spurs lolol) so he could help Chelsea by helping United take points off of that lot. It's batshit crazy and very shortsighted (what about next season and the season after that?!). It's also a bit naive of United to think that Mata will solve any of their problems...

I think Mata would help us gain more points than the 6 total possible from city and arsenal, even in a rotation role. And he'll probably be on a five year contract so as you say, what about the next few seasons. He's not really what utd need but he'll be an obvious boost.

Zaha on loan to Cardiff is close. A waste of half a season so far for zaha. If we weren't going to play him we should have sent him on loan from August.

You're forgetting about Schurrle, Ramires who can play in the front 3, there's also plenty of players out on loan at the moment (not sure about recall clauses) Van Ginkel, Matic, Luiz Essien Mikel all for that back 2 midfield.

We woudln't struggle, but my god I hope Jose is just messing about, it'd be such a waste seeing Mata at Utd.

For a start, UTD have quite a few of the top teams left to play, Chel$ea have already played UTD twice this season so it could work out better for Chel$ea. Plus 40m would go towards buying someone that they actually need, like a striker that remembers to put his boots on the correct feet.

Meh, edit...already mentioned.

We've plenty of Midfielders and I just don't see Jose using him a great deal because of the way he plays, plus I think for his own benefit it is nice to see him go plus the money will certainly come in handy when it come to fair play rules....also a profit on a player is nice as well.
