Letter of the law if Gouffran makes a move for the ball which he kinda did he makes himself active no?

I cant see why it was not given but that is all I can think off.

Another thing I have often wondered. If footballers get paid to wear boots and can choose which ones why the fuck are they all wearing the horrible orange fuckers. Get some that match your kits you muppets.

Lots of boots only come in those colours, they're also the prototypes and up coming releases.

I'll try and remove my Newcastle bias for this, but that game was one of the worst refereeing performances I've ever seen. We should have probably had one or two sent off (Cabaye and M'biwa) but got the rub of the green from the ref, I'm guessing trying to atone for his error.

Anyone else notice the 60 yard hoof by Silva (I think) that went straight out of play for a City throw in too? I'm guessing it was revenge for Sissoko twatting him in the face last time he refereed us vs Southampton.

It was for interfering with play, which was utter horse shit. Gouffran moved to get out of the way of the ball, and not a single Newcastle player was in Hart's line off sight.

Isn't moving out of the way of the ball interfering with the ball? The FIFA rule refers to "playing" the ball and not touching it. Hart was clearly concerned about his presence so close to the goal, can see why it was disallowed. Would have been very annoyed if it had been a Villa goal ruled out for that mind you.

If Hart had dived for it maybe but Hart saw it to late and with an empty area would have got no where near it. Common sense allows the goal imo.

If he had moved the other way I could see the point but he was clearly moving out of Hart's "way" (having not been in Hart's way in the first place). I think the officials thought it had taken a nick off of one of the 3 offside Newcastle players and not Demicheles and then they copped out bigtime afterwards.

Sidenote: come on Stoke! I feel dirty for even saying that.

I don't understand how moving out the way could be interpreted as interfering. I'd be 99.99% sure Hart wasn't thinking "it's gonna hit Gouff, making it an offside decision, I guess I'll not move". He wasn't going to get anywhere near that shot, and didn't even protest short of a lazy arm up once it went in.

I was listening to talksport after the match, they even got an ex-ref of (Mark Halsey I believe) to clarify the rules etc and he deemed it to be a totally wrong decision. I'll be sure to post it when it gets stuck online.

It could be offside as even moving out of the way makes you active. But they said it was not an offside.

Getting sick of Mignolet. Want Reina back asap.

Edit: But Sturridge's goal is ACE :)

Hah what a fun goal by Sturridge. Not surprised at Mignolet making yet another howler though :p

Never really understood why reina had to go on a loan. he wasnt that bad last season, the defence made him seem way worse then he was. mignolet do loads of mistakes but when he is at his best hes brutal but sadly he just to uneven

By all accounts he is one of the highest paid keepers in Europe and the manager though the wages were best used elsewhere. Plus he publicly said he would go to Barce didn't he?

That chalked off goal was a fucking disgrace, he wasn't interfering with play at all. He wasn't impeding or blocking Joe Hart, and non of the defenders were being distracted from him. Referees have been a joke this season.
