Ohh, big Ozil as captain. 24 points thank you very much.

I know a 40 yard shot or some volley will win goal of the season, but that deserves Team Goal of the Season.

Peter Herbert does more damage to race relations than any other single person in sport. The man needs to shut the fuck up.

He doesn't really give a fuck. He's in it for the money.

Well he was our best player (and Neville's motm) today so it's kinda justified.

We didn't look convincing in the first half at all, some of our passing was atrocious. I think some of that can be put down to the wet pitch and rain but still, it seems to be taking longer than expected to get this shiny new team playing together.

And tbh I don't know when Villa were "on top for ages"? They pegged us back pretty well in the first half but that was more our inability to get the ball forward and they had a bit of a push when Benteke came on but it didn't last long.

Longer than you expected maybe but not most people. No one except Spuds fans expected 7 new players to gel instantly.

Tbh Eriksen, Paulinho, Capoue, Chadli and Chiriches all seem to be fine when they've played. Soldado hasn't done much wrong (today was his first prem goal from open play) but he works hard, it's just been a problem of getting the ball to him. He's settling, it's Lamela that is going to be the one to take time. He says he needs to adjust to the different style of play over here but he's working on it.

I still think it is next season where we will see the best of the spuds team.

2.0 away from home at Villa? A good result for anyone... I didn't watch the match but Villa aren't the same villa that they were last season. Spurs aren't letting many in, joint 2nd for least conceded with Chelsea...they just need to gel in midfield and they will be sorted. Down to the manager to get them working properly.

There was a period before the second goal where your lot barely got out their half man, granted Villa didn't look too convincing, often just lobbing it up hoping Bentekkers would nod it in.

Townsend did have a cracking game like, seemed to still be running at full pelt even in extra time, he's gonna be sore tomorrow :p

Still enough for the media to start sucking him off and labelling him The Messiah again :p

Poor bugger - its poison for any young player to get the media hyping them.

I agree - some will take a while to settle but even then the manager has to work out the best combo.

I much prefer this to having one key player though.

Hmm - wasn't southamptons goal invalid because the keeper was being hindered?

In the grand scheme of things, Saints deserved to be at least level. I'd be more agrieved if I was a Cardiff fan at Chelsea's blatant non-goal. Marshall was VERY OBVIOUSLY bouncing the ball and hadn't dropped it.

Yeah - that one was invalid as well if you go by the rules of the game. Its incredibly unusual to see a striker attempt anything like it for good reason tbh.

So apparently the shit-stirring player that was the leak of the "monkey" rubbish is upset with Townsend for defending Hodgson. Honestly, whoever it was, needs to just fuck off. It's just about as destructive as it's possible to be. Which could be the point, I guess. If it was a legitimate concern, man up and go to the authorities with it rather than scurrying along to The Sun.

I've seen Lampard's name speculatively mentioned. /runs

Wouldn't be the first time he has tried to unsettle a manager.

All the stories I have read point the finger squarely at Defoe who was apparently pissed off with the joke and Wellbeck who jumped on the bandwagon.

Leighton Baines went time-traveling to the 1970 world cup. Inspirational.
