I like Sunderland but it's hard not to enjoy the car crash that is Di Canio's management style. Out of his depth and flailing about upsetting players and fans. Riveting viewing.

Was looking forward to the match tonight, shame Chelsea continue to be so horrible to watch. They're even making Fulham look decent.

As for motivation - if he's not self-motivated to win all the time it's easy to see why City and Chelski binned him off.

Having watched it again it does look dodgy, but the ball changes direction when contact was made so it looked like Dejan got his foot on it. That's what I thought at the time and perhaps that's what the ref saw as well. I really don't think Sturridge lacked motivation today, it was just a case of him not seeing any of the ball. He is not, and never has a been a creative striker. He is an out and out goal scorer, and if no one is providing him with chances he wont score goals. You should also note that our defence has been rock solid this year. People saying that Liverpool haven't played that badly since we played you last time, and I remember that game and we dominated you then as well, maybe we just have your number! We do tend to up our performance for the better teams as well, if you look at our record last year, we took 4 points off Chelsea, we beat Liverpool, City, lost to last minute goals to Spurs twice and United once, and played United off the park when we lost to them at Old Trafford 2-1.

I saw speculation on one forum that he doesn't like Spanish players, a Portugese/Spanish thing. No idea if it is true of course.
