I don't think that's true tbh - I think the Willian charade delayed the transfer or it would have been completed a while ago.

There was also some haggling over payment and the terms - RM wanted a phased payment plan over years - Spurs wanted it up front.
The two offers are seemingly 90 odd million phased over 5 years or £78m in one lump sum. But again this is all meant to have been agreed before Spuds spending spree started. The money Spuds are spending is very out of charachter for Levy and would take years to pay for itself. Which means it is most likely funded by a agreed Bale sale. I highly doubt there are discussions still on going about the price. With Barcelona getting the head stomping cunt RM need a superstar purchase and Bale is that. It's not meant to be down to Spuds dragging the deal out.

The general feeling is that this spree would've happened if Bale had stayed or not. AVB would've had assurances that, if he stayed with us instead of going to PSG etc, serious investments would've been made. We're hopeful of jumping straight up into the CL this season for the extra monies. Plus we've not really spent a lot of money over the last decade or so (since Levy became Chairman funnily enough :p ), 'arry went a bit mad a few seasons ago but apart from that we've been pretty frugal (apart from occasional signings). If Bale doesn't go it won't be ideal (especially the way he's handled all of this, he won't be overly welcome at WHL I shouldn't imagine) but we'd get by. We've just got to make damn sure we get into the top 4 at the least this year. :)

Sorry I don't buy that for a second the amount you have spent is so far out of Spuds normal spending and you are not making enough money to cover the spending. The amount you have spend including wages for these superstar players needs to come from somewhere and Spuds is a business to Levy no way he decides to throw away a £100m including wages.

Not fussed if you buy it or not, it's a perfectly viable scenario (that is a few weeks out of date when we were still talking about Willian). Good selling and very good spending since Levy took over the reins plus this new TV money means we have built up quite a warchest of our own. Levy and co just didn't brag about it before the window opened. After signing Eriksen, if we sell Bale for £86m, we will be £~8.5m in profit for this window.

You don't post multi million pound profits. You don't have £80m sitting there for transfers alone plus capacity for the wages for superstar signings. The £50m extra from TV ect will go to covering these new signings wages. And the reason you have spend nearly the amount of money you are getting for Bale says it all. Levy would not throw this much money at the club now not when you are meant to be developing a new stadium. I know you would like to believe this is the first of many transfer windows where you spend Man City money but you are not Man City you need the money coming in for it to go out.

That looked nasty from Ramires he went over the ball then. You hope it was accidental but he is the type to leave a foot it.

Play the ball on the ground don't go over it studs showing is my guess. This is Europe you cant tackle with you foot off the ground.

Ramirez can't tackle to save his life, he never has been able to and it wouldn't of been an issue if he hadn't got the first yellow.

I agree - Spurs is run as a business - they dont just go crazy one day on a spending spree.

I said it was a scenario, I still think we have been anticipating the Bale sale since before we bought Paulinho. We're not anticipating spending stupid money every season because we can't. Our owner is worth over £4bn but he's an actual businessman rather than a corrupt russian or some oil sheikh. He's not going to pump silly money into the club and Levy probably wouldn't let him. I sincerely hope we don't have to spend like this again, because if we do it means AVB's plan hasn't worked.

Why does Bayern take so many short corners? Does Guardiola don't understand he does not manage a team of dwarfs anymore?

I'm sorry but how many fucking times do players have to be told not to do those stupid fucking short run penalties.

Pretty good game, didnt the expect us to do that well against bayern. Poor penalty but Cech also didn't do that great, unlike when it mattered. ;-)
