More than likely, though the lad is only 20 and AVB is obviously not adverse to playing people in new positions; Sturridge being the prime example.

Exactly, who gives a shit what goes down in Uruguay when he is living and working in England. There's any number of unpleasant things that are treated differently in different countries.

What with professional footballers all being ambassadors of the Kick It Out campaign, it's even less excusable.

It's not so much that they treat it differently, just that certain words aren't triggers for offence down there in the same way they are here.

What absolute cobblers. If I get in trouble for being racist can I just claim that it's ok because my family are all like that so I don't know any different? Racism is racism is racism.

but it's not though, I've been subjected to ignorance, and I've been subjected to proper racism. There is a big difference. I don't think Suarez was trying to be racist, he was trying to wind Evra up and did not understand the implications of his words as he is from a different culture.

But he is in England? Should he not respect the laws of England because they are different back in Uruguay?

Not laws thought cokenose, it's a cultural thing. Evra is being a cock here, and Suarez should not be made a scapegoat.

For the Terry one, I believe Terry only said the offensive word when he was claiming he did not say it the first time? Will be interesting to see what Anton actually says about it, and the ref.

Exactly. Its not about "how its dealt with in Uruguay" or whatever someone said earlier. Racism should not be tolerated in whatever country you are in and I am sure it is not tolerated in Uruguay. Its more about the significance and meaning of words. I have been taught Spanish in Spain and lived there for a time. People describe their black friends as "Negros/Negras" - Spanish word for black male/ female. I commonly heard one friend say to another "Tranquillo negrito" - translated directly into English as calm down little black one. I have no idea what Suarez said. If there is evidence he said something that is implicitly racist, then he should be royally fucked up the arse. 5 game ban and a massive fine. However, if he was talking in Spanish, the words he used should be treated within their meaning IN SPANISH.

No Achilles, a 5 game ban is not suitable if he was found to be racist - and you'd need a lot of proof mind, you'd ban him for life.

8 games and 40k? I don't understand, either he was racist and should be banned for life, or he was not and should be warned about his future conduct and warned how his words can be interpreted.

Liverpool have released a statement in the light of Luis Suarez's eight-game ban. They are not happy. It says: "We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken."

^ liverpool's response. Unless the FA release the full ruling of their findings we will never know really.

Liverpool Football Club is very surprised and disappointed with the decision of the Football Association Commission to find Luis Suarez guilty of the charges against him.

We look forward to the publication of the Commission's Judgment. We will study the detailed reasons of the Commission once they become available, but reserve our right to appeal or take any other course of action we feel appropriate with regards to this situation.

We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken.

The Club takes extremely seriously the fight against all forms of discrimination and has a long and successful track record in work relating to anti-racist activity and social inclusion. We remain committed to this ideal and equality for all, irrespective of a person's background.

LFC considers racism in any form to be unacceptable - without compromise. It is our strong held belief, having gone over the facts of the case, that Luis Suarez did not commit any racist act. It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible - certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations.

It is key to note that Patrice Evra himself in his written statement in this case said 'I don't think that Luis Suarez is racist'. The FA in their opening remarks accepted that Luis Suarez was not racist.

Luis himself is of a mixed race family background as his grandfather was black. He has been personally involved since the 2010 World Cup in a charitable project which uses sport to encourage solidarity amongst people of different backgrounds with the central theme that the colour of a person's skin does not matter; they can all play together as a team.

He has played with black players and mixed with their families whilst with the Uruguay national side and was Captain at Ajax Amsterdam of a team with a proud multi-cultural profile, many of whom became good friends.

It seems incredible to us that a player of mixed heritage should be accused and found guilty in the way he has based on the evidence presented. We do not recognise the way in which Luis Suarez has been characterised.

It appears to us that the FA were determined to bring charges against Luis Suarez, even before interviewing him at the beginning of November. Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name.

We would also like to know when the FA intend to charge Patrice Evra with making abusive remarks to an opponent after he admitted himself in his evidence to insulting Luis Suarez in Spanish in the most objectionable of terms. Luis, to his credit, actually told the FA he had not heard the insult.

Yep, no real evidence of the Suarez incident, strong evidence of the Terry incident though.. I expect his ban will be at least 15games if Suarez gets 8.

Though it seems Suarez admitted it..

If he called him black mamba, or Negro or some other Spanish terms then it was meant as banter on the pitch; they were both giving it. If Evra has taken it badly then that's a lesson for Suarez to learn about people from different backgrounds. However the FA has put itself in a ridiculous position.

At worst they should have made BOTH players publicly apologise for their behaviour to each other and do some free work for the kick it out campaign.
