Hammering it straight in the middle of the goal when the keeper stands his ground really is a poorly taken penalty. It takes some skill to score a penalty, not a lot, but some. And I bet you that Liverpool expected him to score that penalty after they paid £35 million punds for him

I wouldn't say hammering it straight down the middle is poor as most of the time the goalkeeper dives to either the left or the right, penalties mostly depend on the goalkeeper anyway.
