ah, right sorry. some poor fucker got to such a bottom that he took his own life. Let not talk about it in this thread though.

So. Teves then? Paid enough?
I never said that. I meant stop talking to people like they are mugs when they say he does not look depressed. Not everyone is an expert in depression but that does not mean they should not be able to say what they think in a football thread.

I got your point but you are still acting like a child there is a difference between being a fool and saying "Lots of people hide depression very well" you do not need to act like a knuckle dragger to try and prove a point.

Sorry, I have become bored of dealing with imbeciles and have taken to treating them as such.

Call it old age.

On a lighter, and more relevant, note; I thought Sturridge was much better yesterday than I have seen him recently.

Even five minutes of that Liverpool v Man City game was more exciting and enjoyable than any of the 90 minutes Villa played earlier. Big Eck is absolute shit, only the owner thinks otherwise - and that, apparently, is because he "can work with him". i.e. he says 'yes', has no ambition and no other club wanted him, least of all the team he managed last season and took to two relegations in three seasons.

Horrible. We still have tickets available for our home tie to Man United; half expecting that they won't all sell. I wonder if the penny will drop with the upper echelons of the club when no bugger wants their half season tickets either?

If we have no ambition, just want to be mid-table merchants, then lets at least play with some flair and variety. Putting out a team every week with Heskey as a central midfielder is tiresome. Long balls from the back, ten men behind the ball, long punts in the general direction of Bent might be enough to beat Blackburn, but isn't good enough to get us into those 'European places' the Managing Director said we were aiming for, and it certainly isn't enough to put bums on seats. Boring, boring, Villa.

It's weird that someone I haven't met has really made me sit back and think about his death :( I just can't imagine what he's been going through at all, and I really feel for his family.

Probably because it wasn't as if he seemed in a bad position in life, so perhaps it hits home a bit more,

Yeah, his age, the fact he had a seemingly good life, doing what he loved. I suppose because all of us who have grown up with the premiership are quite used to him having always been on our TV's, it really does feel like a hard blow.

Cancer hits regardless of wealth. Mental illness is no different. It hits home more because people don't really believe mental illness is an actual illness.

For it to happen to a fabulously wealthy, good-looking and seemingly happily married family guy is very strong proof that our preconceptions are incorrect.

The reality is he would still be in the minority category for committing suicide considering his life, those around don't seem to of seen anything either...that isn't to say it is impossible in any way.

Apparently (though I can't swear to it) suicide is more prevalent amongst the rich, as a percentage of their population.

To me it isn't only about his wealth, to me that is never a guarantee of happiness.

Its certainly more prevalent in rich countries, not sure if it follows for the richest within those countries.

NB. Everyone seems to be assuming he committed suicide due to depression; has that actually been confirmed anywhere? Its not the only reason people commit suicide.

Agreed. However, what the stupidly wealthy are is free. Wealth removes the majority of pressure.

Happiness comes from within but I'd wager it's certainly easier to attain if you have an ability to do what you want, when you want it.

Its certainly more prevalent in rich countries, not sure if it follows for the richest within those countries.

My understanding is that it's more prevalent amongst the economically advantaged. I also agree with your point about it being more prevalent in rich countries as well - but that's hardly surprising as massive and stark inequalities don't make for happy humans - and the west is all about that.

I have to admit my first though was that there was a scandal about to break and he killed himself. The Penn State scandal being in the press has made me suspicious, but that is very unfair on Speed.

Not really impressive...

I'll judge him on how many goals he has scored in the past year or 2 against decent teams, which doesn't seem to be many?
*Bashes head against wall repeatedly*

So very very bitter. Forget the "who he's better than" conversation it doesn't matter. He is pure class...are you really that biased that you can't admit when an ex united player is good?

I don't think anyone who watches football can really argue that C Ronaldo is anything other than a quality player, regardless of personal opinion of him or clubs he has played for previously.

Much the same as saying Suarez is crap, because he a) dives too much and b) denied Ghana an historic World Cup victory with some thoroughly unsportsmanlike behaviour. Doesnt mean he's crap, he's not, but there are sides to his game which tarnish his reputation to some
